Alice Francis Weyerbacher, age 83, passed away on July 23, 2015, surrounded by her family and loved ones, following a battle with failing health.
Alice was born on February 25, 1932, in Belleville, Kansas. The daughter of Roscoe (Jack) and Ines Greenfield, she was the third of nine children. Alice attended school in Hardin, Montana, until 1944, when her family moved to Kinsey, MT. It was in Kinsey that Alice finished her schooling, and met the love of her life, Ralph Weyerbacher.
Ralph and Alice Weyerbacher were married on November 7th, 1948, after Ralph spent two years in the service. The newlyweds lived on the Weyerbacher farm with Ralph’s parents, where they raised sugar beets and other crops.
At the age of 22, Alice gave birth to her first child, Cathy, with Peggy and Cody soon following. Ralph and Alice operated the farm until 1990, when they moved to Miles City, leaving their son, Cody, as head of the family farm. Following Ralph’s death in 1993, Alice enjoyed spending any time she could with her beloved sister, Betty, and watching her grandchildren’s sports games and school events.
Alice was a wonderful cook and seamstress, sewing many of her girls’ clothes. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, baking, giggling, enjoying chocolate, and listening to Daniel O’Donnell. The true joy of her life, however, was the time she spent in the company of her family, especially that of the time with her many grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her three children: Cathy (Jim) Bastian, Miles City, MT; Peggy (Larry) Hirsch, Kinsey, MT; and Cody (Toni) Weyerbacher, Kinsey, MT, as well as her 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren (with 2 on the way!).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Jack and Ines; brothers, Bill, Charles, Robert, and Lyle; sister, Joan; and grandchildren, Amber, Wendy, and Daniel.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers: Tracey, Shannon, Kim, Joan, and Marlys, along with the many Welcov Home Health aides, who allowed Alice to stay in her home as long as she could.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Betty Carter O'Brien says
So sorry to hear of Alice’s passing. I remember her as we attended the 8th grade together at Kinsey with Mr. Olson as our teacher. We had so much fun together and I had my first
hair cut by Alice – I always wanted bangs so she said she could do it – she did. she took a wad of hair in her hand and cut it – wow, my hair stuck out like a brush. It took till spring for it to grow out enough to curl them. Oh how I loved Alice and my prayers for her family and blessings to all.
