Barbara Ann Meleton Kirchner, age 82, from Circle, MT, went to be united with her loved ones in heaven on the morning of August 27, 2016 at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, Montana with all her family at her side.
Barbara was born on December 26, 1933 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Frank and Gertrude (Jacobs) Meleton. She was the youngest of seven children.
She met the love of her life, Gene Kirchner, at Brockway Dairy Day. Gene and Barbara were married February 26, 1957 at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Shreveport, LA. From Shreveport she moved to Circle where she and Gene built a life together on the family cattle and wheat operation. They had five children: Jeanne, Clint, Kenny, Kathy and Rita.
Barbara will be remembered by her thoughtfulness and kindness to others. She would send notes and flowers to brighten the days of others. She took the time to be a friend to so many people. She always tried to make life easier for others. She practiced her belief – ‘all that’s really important is how we care for others in our life’. She made her children and grandchildren each feel special. Family and friends were very important to her.
She was preceded in death by Gene, her husband of 47 years, son Kenny, her parents, one sister and her four brothers.
Barbara is survived by her children Jeanne of Dickinson, ND; Clint (Shawn) of Circle, MT; daughter-in-law Regan of Circle, MT; Kathy (Phil) of Denver, CO and Rita (Jonathan) of Cheyenne, WY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Mike Heilig (Lori), Barbara Mothershead (Brian), Natasha Hogan (Rick), Savannah Kirchner (Drew), Shannell Weeding (Kyle), Joel and Cameron Kirchner, Ryan Lemley and nine great grandchildren; sister Marie Sartori of Shreveport, LA, sisters-in-law Anne Meleton of Lafayette, LA and Tillie Meleton of Shreveport, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara requests that you take a loved one out to dinner, read to a child, play a game, go for a walk and enjoy nature or perhaps go somewhere for an ice cream treat.
Enjoy life because it is short.
