This is an obituary for my father, Bernard Littlehead Sr-” Aenoheso” which means “Little Hawk”. He was born July 8th, 1941. He was 73 years old when he “moved onto next camp”.
My dad has four children, and maybe some in Germany,( as he always used to brag to me about…”I think you have brothers and sisters in Germany!”). The oldest is Pebbles, Bernadette, and then Bernard Jr, or Sonny Bell. Also there was another between them, but he had died at early age, I did not know of him. The first two children were from his first wife, Esther Redeagle, In which he married after returning from serving in the US Army and being stationed in Nuemberg, Germany. The second set of children are myself, Ruben Little Head Sr and Chad Everett Little Head Sr, whom are from his second wife, Delores Two Two. Together they raised us in Ashland, down tongue river road until they divorced in 1986, to which we moved to Lame Deer to live with our father and Grandma Bertha. Grandma Bertha is still alive and just turned 92 this past March 3rd! She is having a hard time losing her only son left out of eight children total. All of my aunties; Mercedes, Evalee, Linda, Diana, Priscilla, and the baby Christine! Also, my auntie Georgiann Littlehead,(same dad, different mom). My grandma had another daughter but died at early age and also another son, Daryl, who passed in the 80’s.
My dad was also very close to his cousin brothers/ sisters from Alice Whitewolf; Joy, Arvelos, Letha, Eloise, Justine and Isadore and Joseph Jr,( Pink Wolf). Also, my dad was raised with his stepbrother, Daniel Foote, whom my grandfather George Littlehead Sr raised from a child. That’s only a handful of relatives and extended family. Sorry if I didn’t mention everyone!
My dad enjoyed life. In his early years he drank a lot, (usually with “Bunny wuns”- Oliver Glenn), and traveled all over the country, making friends and probably more brothers and sisters!! I don’t know?
He enjoyed watching live sports, such as Morning Star basketball, Atlanta Brave baseball and men’s slow pitch softball! He enjoyed playing cards,( ha mon shim), with his sisters and mother. He liked to watch the TV game show network, and his favorite host- that one guy with big teeth, tacky suits and a long skinny microphone!? He loved his dogs- Wednesday, Buster, and Buddy. He was find of his friendships with Justine Goodchief, Shirley Brady, Dolly Goodbear, and his special friend Linda Walkslast. But, what I’m most proud of, from him, was that he sobered up and raised my baby brother Chad and I!
I’m gonna miss talking Cheyenne with him. I’m gonna miss watching him play with my children, and all of his other grandchildren. Headstart gonna miss him driving school bus. Morning star ballers gonna miss him cheering loud and proud! People gonna miss his smile as he used to cruise down Cheyenne Ave!
I just want to especially thank the Nurses and medical staff who took the patience and time to care for my father the last three years!
I told myself,” one of these days, I want to meet that treatment counselor who changed my dad. And also, I want to take a trip to Germany and see if I can find any half Cheyenne brothers and sisters!!:)

Our love and condolences to the family, especially Aunt Bertha, we know her heart is hurting. Praying some day there will be a cure for Alzheimer’s. Bernard was loved by many, enjoyed his joking and the spirit of honor and duty he showed for his country. His children will carry part of their dad with them always.

I sure missed my brother deeply when he was home here in Lame Deer he would always drive to our house and park outside, sometimes come in or eat and orange and throw in our driveway. He would bring two pops and say where is them lil boys at and here they were in there early 20’s A.J. and T.J. Strangeowl. Aljo and Bernard visited for long periods of time until Bernard fell asleep, he would head out before dark, sure miss them days but good memories
Love you brother safe journey.

I kind of grew up traveling with the NC Viet Nam Era Veterans to all the good powwows for colorguard, from Oklahoma to Idaho to Denver to Bismarck to Manitoba. Uncle Bernard always there. I turned teenager, got my DJ suburban, and soon I was driving these vets to all these awesome powwows for colorguard. I remember Uncle Bernard smiling and laughing at me while smoking a cig when he seen me do what teenagers do at powwows. Snag. Good memories. I remember when Uncle Bernard quit smoking, and he seen me still lighting up. He told me I should quit, they’re no good for me. Today, I am smoke free. So far again. Hopefully for good this time. Uncle Bernard will be missed. Hugs to the family.
