Cheryl Ann (Fleming) Noftsker gained her wings and went with the Lord on the morning of May 13th, 2018.
Cheryl (Cheri, Little Bit, Cheryl Ann, Cher Bear, Mom, Grandma) was born on March 7th 1958 in Miles City, Mt. The 3rd of 4 children born to Calvin and Louise (Schlaugh) Fleming.
Cheri and her family’s first years were spent in Terry, MT, moving to Minnesota for a couple years before relocating to Miles City where she attended high school. She enjoyed dancing and could do so for hours! She won herself a new bike and a spot in the Miles City Star to show it off for participating in and winning a Disco Dance-a-thon. She danced all night long!
In 1980, when Cheri was 22 years old she moved to Shelby, MT. to live with her childhood friend Bobbi. She worked and managed Howards Pizza for several years, and as she put it, “We rocked that place!” While living in and around the Shelby area for 18 years she met many life long friends and made lots of memories. She enjoyed her close group of friends, riding snowmobile and trips to Glacier Park.
She moved to Baker in 1998 to help take care of her father. She met Brian while she was slinging drinks at the Corner Bar. This is where she got the nickname “little bit”. Brian had a daughter to whom Cheri fell in love with and thought of her as her own. She was a special kind of mother to many children.
October of 2002 Brian and Cheri moved to Jordan where she resided the rest of her life. She became Mrs. Noftsker on September 6th 2003 at the Jimmy Kariotis Park in Jordan. She worked at a daycare in town and her love for children influenced their decision to buy the Daycare in 2005. Many years, 9 to be exact, they owned the daycare; she was many children’s “Grandma Cheri”. She put her heart and soul into “her kids”, lots of potty training, dirt, Christmas’s, birthday’s, firsts, laughs, tears, learning and loving. She became very close friends to the parents of the kids as well. Despite being busy with her kids, she still took good care of her husband and always had time for a game of cards or dice (or two or three). On January 7th 2009 she became a grandma to Natalie Noftsker, she was very proud of her granddaughter, and spoke of her often. Natalie thought the same of her, and couldn’t wait to be her height or taller. Her house was full of good food and lots of laughs; she knew how to feed people for sure! They sold the daycare in 2014 due to Cheri’s health when she was diagnosed with cancer. This is when she started working at the Garfield County Health Department until her health was too bad to continue.
She had a special gift with people; she gave so much joy and laughter to anyone who met her. Her friends and family were everything to her, always putting others before herself. She made and kept her friends throughout life. Her dearest friends were Bobbi, Inga, Moni, Kelsey and Kristie. She was a great cook, wife, friend and loved playing any kind of dice or card game and she knew them all!
Cheri is preceded in death by her mother and father (Calvin and Louise Fleming); maternal and paternal grandparents along with many aunts and uncles.
Cheri is survived by her husband Brian; her daughter RaLynn Noftsker (Kyle Rogge); sisters Marla Verley, Judy (Jim Ludwig); special nieces and nephews Paula (Jon) Syring, Ginger (Wayne) Everling, James (Lisa) Ludwig; brother Thomas (Dawn) Fleming; brother in law Darin (Wanda) Noftsker; mother in law Joyce Barkie; grandchildren Natalie Noftsker and Urijah Rogge; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephew and many other close friends that she held close to her heart.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 1-6 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the VFW Hall in Jordan. Condolences to the family may be sent by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.
