Frank Cyrus Bidwell was born August 4, 1942 in Broadus, Montana to Frank and Nanie (Cain) Bidwell. He graduated from Powder River County High School in 1960 and attended Miles Community College in Miles City. While growing up he worked with his father at the sawmill near Ashland. Cy was owner/operator of many businesses in Broadus; the Cashway grocery store, Park Mobil gas station, Powder River Lanes, The Golden Mug, and Pastime Theatre. He was also instrumental in getting the Broadus Golf Course started and ran the Pro Shop at the Country Club. For the past 25 years he has been President of Tru Catch Traps in Belle Fourche. Cy has been married to his loving wife, Dolly for 50 years and has been a devoted husband and Father. He played Softball on the Broadus Sponsors Team and many rounds of golf with his friends. He coached a lot of Little League Baseball and football and enjoyed watching his children in their sporting events. He held the position of President of the Broadus Jaycees as well as serving at the State level for the Montana Jaycees. He was a member of the Belle Fourche Shriners, Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Board and served as President at the Belle Fourche Country Club.
Cy enjoyed bowling, golf, and pool and always was there to have fun and make sure that everyone else did too. He never met a stranger he didn´t like. His lucky day was the day he made a Hole in One at the golf course and had 11 straight strikes at the bowling alley on the same day. Cy will be remembered for his enthusiasm and sincerity in everything he did in life whether it was work or play. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
Grateful for sharing in his life are his wife Dolly (Schneidt) Bidwell of Belle Fourche, children, Vicky and (David) Black of Keller, TX, Karen and (David) Dinkel of Powers Lake, ND, Todd Bidwell and (Anna) of Belle Fourche, Barry and (Erica) Bidwell of Forsyth MT and Doug Bidwell and (Jerilynn) of Belle Fourche; 8 grandchildren; brother Ronald Bidwell of Laurel MT, Mamie Denson of Douglas, WY and Myrtle Ridenour of Billings, MT.

Please accept my condolences on your loss. I remember him from Powder River High School as a person who was always cheerful and friendly. Recall him doing acting out the words to “All American Boy” at a school dance. Later he coached my youngest son Dax Fraser one summer when Dax spent the summer with my parents Tana & Leland Cook. You have lost a very nice husband, dad, grandpa, & brother. Our best wishes to you.

The world has lost one great person. Cy was like a father to me. Gave me my first job, my best memories are the times that I spent at the bowling alley. I will miss him and his zest for life. He was always ready to go to a bowling tourney or to grab his softball glove when we needed one more guy. I’m a better person today because I knew Cy Bidwell.

Dolly, kids, siblings, I know you are proud of having Cy in your life, you will miss him dearly, remember all the wonderful times you had.
Cy, We spent a lot of time together in those early years. Grade school, High School,Working for you at the Park Mobil, Playing the Pin Ball machine over at Floyd & Mary’s drive-inn after hours when Floyd would open the machine and let us play for free. Giving you a hard time about the old slush box Chrysler products you drove. When we were Sophmores I can remember one day at basketball practice Coach Kaiser telling you if he ever caught you smoking another cigarette he would make you eat a whole pack. Loaning me your recently purchased 57′ Pink Olds from Allen Cathey, to go to Belle when my dad had a heart attack.
Even though we haven’t seen each other much through the years, I will miss your friendship. God Speed old friend, Doug

Gene & I would have liked to have been there but he has been ill and unable to do much of anything, much less travel.
Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life.
