Dave passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early morning hours of July 22, 2017. Dave was 63 years old and still worked a 40 hour week, even though he was looking forward to retirement.
David (as his Mother insisted on calling him) was born on December 14, 1953, in Terry, Montana, the first son of Christ and Berta Doffinger Lassle. His Mother and older brother, Helmut had emigrated from Germany in 1952 and she married Christ Lassle in March of 1953. Brothers Daniel and Duane, and sister, Deloris completed the family. Christ’s mother also lived with them in Fallon, which was a good thing because it took Mother, Grandmother, and big brother, Helmut to keep 3 little blonde headed boys in check. Being so close in age the 3 Lassle boys always had someone to play with and a little sister to tease all the time.
Church was a big part of family life and Dave was confirmed in the Evangelical Church in 1968. They went to church every Sunday and Wednesday. Mother also insisted that they attend Bible School at every church in Fallon each summer. This continued until they were teenagers and started working.
Dave worked around Fallon and for farmers in the Fallon area until he graduated from Terry High School in 1972 and went off to college in Bozeman and then Billings, MT. After college he went to work for Glendive Coke and became the “Coke Man”. He made a lot of great friends during this time and he loved Coke for the rest of his life. In 2006 he made a career change and went to work for Prairie County with the Road Department. He continued working there until he passed.
Dave loved to have fun, and being a cowboy was fun for him. He was very proud to carry the American and Montana flags in parades with his friend Dan Dukart. He was an avid reader and would trade books with whoever had one he wanted to read. His latest hobby was flying radio controlled airplanes and he was thrilled to get to go to Nevada each winter with Dale Galland to fly planes on the salt flats.
Dave is preceded in death by his Parents and Grandparents. Dave is survived by his brothers, Helmut (Nina), Daniel (Pam) and Duane, all of Terry, MT, sister, Deloris (David) Killion of Discovery Bay, CA, and many nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his pal Muggles, who was with him until the end.

Before I joined the model plane club, and because there were so many ‘Dave’s’, he had been dubbed ‘Cowboy’, somewhere along the line. I enjoyed knowing and flying R/C planes with ‘Cowboy’ . He will be greatly missed by me and all the others at the Terry Flying Field. His passing was a great shock to all of us. Gunner Benavente

Dan, Duane, Delores, & Families,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have fond memories of Dave not only in high school but in college. There were some late night card games at Wade & Sandy’s! Also, Dave was part of the hunting crew when Tom got his one and only elk. In fact, this winter we shared a picture with him from this hunting trip.
Cherish the memories.

Our deepest sympathy to all of Dave’s family. Dave was an amazing guy with the greatest personality. Had connections with him during both his time at Coke and Prairie County. Never a complainer and a darn hard worker. Prairie County benefited from Dave’s presence. RIP Dave. We’re sure glad we were fortunate enough to have known you!
Ron Haidle says
So many stories and a legacy to the Lassle name. I worked with Dave a few years on Lynn Haidle’s farm. He taught me German phrases, how to power shift without a clutch, and that his Mercury Cougar was faster than the Champ airplane I flew when racing on Fallon Flat. What a fun guy!
Robert fatzinger says
Robert fatzinger worked with Dave for 21/2 years at the coke plant. Alot of people went through the plant but not Dave. He was a good friend. We would go hunting on the flats for praire chickens. Great fun. You will be missed.

Our sincere condolences to the Lassle family.
Our families were quite close as we were growing up in Fallon. We made many visits to each.others homes and always had a good time. We are extended family and the history of our parents and grandparents goes back decades. As grown adults we lost track of one another because of distances we traveled and settled . I will always consider you extended family. May God comfort and bless you during this difficult time.
