Dixie Kenney was called to the Lord’s House on October 20, 2012. She was born December 4, 1930 in Sheperd Mt. where her parents, Robert & Bonnie (Rogers) Ross resided. She joined her older sister, Dorothy and brother Jim then later her other siblings, Patsy, Rocky, Mary Jo, and Ginger were united with the family.
In 1949 she married George Haines and from this union they had one daughter Vickie. On January 26, 1986 she was united in marriage to Dennis Kenney.
Dixie loved her yard and was an avid gardener with the love of her life, Dennis by her side. She spent countless hours crocheting rag rugs, embroidering and baking.
She was voted as the Cookie Lady or Jerky maker. Dixie always had a pot of coffee on and something home baked to munch on. Christmas was her favorite time. She loved to bake and give. Her husband Dennis, of 27 years, would hunt geese and she would make goose jerky. Baked goods and jerky were given to all that wished.
Dixie was mostly a stay at home mom, but she did work at the Locker plant, Country Club and Jim Cope’s supper club. In her earlier days she belonged to the Howard Homemakers, was a 4H leader for many years and bowled on a bowling team.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis, daughter Vickie (Dennis) Krause of Forsyth, two sisters, Dorothy Tallent of Forsyth and Mary Jo Younglund of Broadus, two grandsons, Donald Smith (Tina) of Butler, KY, and Monty Smith (Jessi) of Orfino, ID, three Great Grandchildren, Zane Webb, and Desirae Smith & Ian Smith. One Great Great Grandson Jordan Cooper, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Rocky, Ginger, Jim and Patsy and a sister-in-law Betsy Ross.
Memorials can be sent in Dixie’s name to the Baptist Fellowship Hall, Rosebud Foundation, or the Charity of choice.

To all of Dixie’s family, Dennis, Vickie, Dorothy, Mary Jo. I am saddened to hear of her passing. I so enjoyed Dixie, her wonderful smile, and her laugh and chuckle. She would visit my Mom and the times when I came back during the fair and would sit and talk with her, she always had time to visit. For a short time I did her hair at the beauty shop, and it was a joy when she came in. I got to know all the Ross girls and love them all.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I can remember Dixie from when I was a very small boy growing up at Evergreen Lanes in Forsyth where Dixie was a very regular visitor. She always had something nice to say to me and let me know I was appreciated and I always knew the teasing was good natured and she was one of my fan club when I was just a kid competing in the annual bowling tournaments.
I will miss you Dixie.
