Harlan Russel Danielson of Forsyth, MT went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on February 8, 2017. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Jean, and survived by a son, Donald Danielson of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law, Mrs. Shirley Steele, of Billings, MT; nephews, Bobby Steele of Pierce, AZ and Ben Steele of Orange, CA; and niece, Jackie White of Prescott, AZ.
Harlan was born June 18, 1930 in Hardin, MT. In 1948 he joined the United States Army wherein he was assigned to Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion of the 31st Infantry Regiment. He was a veteran of the Korean War and member of that small but illustrious group of survivors called the “Chosin Frozen,” who fought in the battle at the Chosin Reservoir. After being honorably discharged by the army, he spent his civilian life working in the Moab region of Utah.
Harlan enjoyed a variety of card games, but especially pinnacle. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Forsyth, where his contagious smile and firm handshake was always welcoming. Harlan was also a very giving and generous individual who felt deeply for those in need. He especially wanted them to know the joy of the salvation that he had found in Jesus. Harlan will be sorely missed by those who knew him, but particularly by his “Posse.” Yet we know the day shall come when we are reunited in glory to worship the King of Glory.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Forsyth on Sunday, February 19 at 6:00 PM.

Such a nice gentleman. I only knew him for a short time but enjoyed our daily visits. I had just learned he had worked in Kenniwick, Washington and that his love for the Columbia Gorge was very evident. We laughed about my getting lost and ending up on the wrong side of the river on my way home to Salem, Oregon. I will miss him.

Harlan was such a wonderful spiritual person, I enjoyed the days I was able to have coffee with and listen to your stories and advice. You are pain free and enjoying you loved ones. GOD bless

On a sunny summer day 5 years ago, I was delivering a medical package for Harlan Danielson. My father had often mentioned this name, Harlan, was his uncle. I was surprised and excitied to think this could be my great uncle that I had never met and that my father hadn’t talked to since his early childhood nearly 55 years after the loss of his mother and Harlan’s sister from Hardin. When the door answered my jaw dropped, Harlan looked just like my father and me. I asked Harlan if he was from Hardin, (he replied, “yes”), so I asked him if he new my great grandfather Judge Russell Danielson, ( he excitedly replied “yes,” “that was my father”.) We both hugged and laughed at the most welcome reunion. Harlan immediately gave praise to the Lord and stated “thank you God!” Every so often, I would get to deliver the Forsyth route. I always had lunch with my great uncle Harlan. Harlan was a great man and loved the lord dearly. I too am thankful to the Lord for that wonderful gift. “Uncle, thank you for the great conversations and lunches. I know you are with your beautiful wife, and sister in heaven. Until we meet again for another lunch.”
God bless and love forever, Travis.
