Harold ”Sonny” Valentino Bredberg, 87, of Fallon, MT, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at his home.
He was born on Monday, February 14th 1927 in Fallon, MT at 1:00 am to Harold and Freeda (Kalmback) Bredberg. Sonny attended elementary school in Fallon, MT and graduated from Terry High school in 1945.
Upon graduation, Sonny was drafted into the army for two years and spent one of these years in Korea during World War II. He attended college in Bozeman, for engineering, but decided college life wasn’t for him. He worked for the Soil Conservation Services for four years. Then, he purchased farm land in Fallon, MT under the Buffalo Rapid project. In the fall of 1991, he sold his irrigated farm land but continued to farm dryland on the big and little Fallon Flat. He enjoyed farming and being his own boss. Sonny served on the water, garbage disposal, and Buffalo Rapid board for numerous years.
The most important things in Sonny’s life were not material, but people. He lived a simple life and was a man of his word. Sonny enjoyed hunting and fishing with his nephew, Mark Hedin, and great nephews, Beau and Devin Hedin. He was an excellent bowler and enjoyed hunting agates with his brother, Gerry. He looked forward to his weekly visits with his great nephew, Nicholas, and great niece, Katrina Beaner, and random visits from other family members and friends, especially if they brought cookies or kuchen.
Sonny enjoyed gardening. He measured the rows to make sure they were the same width and eventually, the blossoms looked like soldiers in formation. He might have been a little Obsessive Compulsive, but we loved him anyways. His method of checking the weather consisted of him sticking his cane out the door to determine whether or not his niece should travel. He also kept tabs on his neighbors to see how they were doing.
His survivors include his sister, Marlene Hedin (Merlyn) and their two children, Mark Hedin (Rhonda) and Marnae VanNoten, his brother, Gerry Bredberg (Lila) and their children Kim Bredberg-Beaner (David), Nikki Bredberg-Larios (Edgar) and Micah Bredberg (Petra), and numerous great nieces and nephews. Two other important people in his life were Ramona Huseby and Suzanna Wollman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother-in-law, Merlyn Hedin, and nephew, James Dean Bredberg.

Mikel & Ramona Huseby says
Harold, or “Sunny” as everyone knew him, was our next door neighbor for 18 years and was always a good neighbor and a fine gentleman. He always had a kind word or encouragement for our son or whoever crossed his path. It will be weird not having him there next door. His passing has left a hole and he will be missed. Our condolences to his family.

Sonny was a quiet guy, but he didn’t lack in spunk. I’m sorry for your loss and know that many will miss Sonny and his down to earth comments.
Darlene Strobel says
My sympathies in the loss of Sonny, a good farmer, friend, community member. It was always good to see him out checking his crops.
