James was born in Shelby, Montana August 22, 1950 to Rex and Mary (Kovich) Schwind. He attended schools here in Helena graduating from Helena high School in 1968. He enlisted in the United States Navy serving during Vietnam.
Jim was a small business owner here in Helena. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, National Rifle Association and other civic and social clubs in Helena. Jim was a collectable dealer, was involved with personal ministries of Calling and listening, prayer, giving of himself, letter writing (including inmates in prison), stewardship and sharing a joke. Jim felt good of his moral accomplishments, tried to stick up for what was right when possible, he swam upstream when the river was headed in the wrong direction. He went the second mile in tithing when it came to his riches. He also tried to be an encouragement to others.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison, 3:00 p.m., Wednesday May 19th. Jim preferred memorials in his name to an organization or charity of the donors choice. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home.
