Lillian was born September 22, 1928 in Oregon City, OR, the only child of Norris and Maud (Forkner) Cox. She grew up in the Portland area and graduated from Gresham Union High School in 1946. In her early 20´s she worked as a bookkeeper at Myron & Frank´s department store in downtown Portland and enjoyed exploring the city. In 1953 while working as a bookkeeper at Templeton Lumber, she met and married her sailor/farmer, Raymond J. Kolb. A few days after the wedding, the Navy shipped her new husband out to sea for over a year. Raymond´s last assignment was in Oahu, where the newlyweds were reunited in September 1954 for a belated 4 ½ month honeymoon. In February 1955, they moved back to the farm in Hysham, MT. It was quite a change for a big city gal, but Lillian quickly adapted to the lifestyle.
Lillian´s Memories, "I admit I hadn´t a clue about farm life, but I soon learned! I still miss the conveniences of a big city, but I soon started feeling sorry for my Portland friends because they didn´t have a whole "town" full of friends like we do. And that´s what I´ve always liked about our church. We aren´t just members, but part of a family!"
As they settled into life on the farm, they were blessed with two children. Lillian dedicated her life to taking care of her family, always putting her family´s needs before her own. She was a very loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother and daughter.
Lillian enjoyed bringing some of Oregon to Montana with her flowers, especially her rose garden. She had a beautiful singing voice and spent many years singing in the church choir and at community events. One of her favorite hobbies was designing and drawing house plans, coming up with the most efficient and convenient use of a space. She was also an avid reader, talented knitter and expert bargain hunter.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 ½ years, Raymond Kolb of Hysham, MT; her children, Kelly (Louise) Kolb of Farmington, NM; Joy (Bob) Moerkerke of Rhinelander, WI; her grandchildren, Trevor (Samantha) Moerkerke of Santa Rosa, CA; Brooke Moerkerke of Rhinelander, WI.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Maud Cox; and an infant grandchild, Aaron Pecheco Kolb.

I have many fond memories of Lynn’s generosity and knidness growing up. Kelly and I spent many hours together hunting, fishing or just tramping around the farm. Lynn was always there to fix us a meal or fix us up from a bruise, tumble or scratch. My prayers are with all of you and espescially Lynn.

My husband and I have great memories of the New Years’ Eve card playing at their daughters’ home in Rhinelander, WI. Ray and Lillian’s affectionate joking during cards made me know that they were really happy with their life together and interested in meeting new people and welcoming into their circle of friend-family.

I have fond memories of spending the night with my dear friend Joy. Lillian’s home was always neat as a pin. She made delicious meals and her and Ray always made me feel special. It was a home you felt happy and comfortable in. May you all find comfort knowing she is home now with her Lord and Savior. My deepest condolences and prayers are with you all.
