Yvonne Joyce Ryder, age 76, of Miles City, Montana, previously from Round Prairie, North Dakota passed away on May 9, 2017 at Holy Rosary Residential Living in Miles City.
Yvonne was born July 25, 1940 in Sisseton, South Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Violet (Rassmusen) Lyseng. The family moved to Froid, Montana shortly after. Yvonne attended Froid Schools and graduated in 1958. Yvonne attended Dickinson College for Nursing. After graduating with her LPN License, she returned to Williston, North Dakota and worked at Mercy Hospital. Yvonne moved to El Paso, Texas where she married the love of her life Larry Leroy Ryder on April 29, 1961. After Larry’s service in the Army, they moved to Great Falls, Montana. They returned to the Buford, North Dakota area where they had four children. Yvonne continued her work in Nursing while raising her family along with farming with Larry.
Yvonne and Larry enjoyed spending time with their close friends Gary and Lynn Russell and Hoot and Vonnie Gibbins. Everyone was always welcomed to their table with a cup of coffee and great conversation. Yvonne also worked for the Human Service Center in Williston, North Dakota and Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home.
Yvonne’s passion for growing plants and flowers could be seen both inside her home and her yard. Yvonne devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She loved all of her family, her many nieces and nephews. She cherished the homemade lemon pies her niece Tammye Lyseng always made her. Yvonne was always there for anyone. She was a wise, loving, caring and respectful woman.
Larry and Yvonne moved to Miles City, Montana in 2013. Yvonne’s Catholic faith remained an important part throughout her life.
Yvonne is survived by her children: Julie Ryder of Minot, ND; Janet (Erik) O’Connor of Colstrip, MT; Lynette (Dan) Markle of Minot, ND and Lee Ryder of Williston, ND; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Jerry (Carol) Lyseng of Williston, ND and Judy (Greg) Hofman of McCabe, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Gene and her husband Larry.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will follow Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veteran’s Cemetery.
