Roger Dale Brauer passed away peacefully on November 1, 2019, at the age of 83. Roger was born in a house south Samatra, MT, the second child born to Arivilla and Loretta (Bodi) Brauer. When he was 5 years old his family moved to the ranch/farm up Sarpy Creek where he lived until his death. (78 years). At 15 Roger took on the responsibility of running the place on his own. He was a very frugal and crafty man. He could fix any type of equipment. In 1960 he married his sweetheart Edith, with her came children and lots of joy. Together they had two sons.
Roger was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He loved doing these things with his family and friends. He was proud to be inducted into the Montana’s Trappers Hall of Fame and in 1987 he was Trapper of the Year. With the help of his son he trapped over 600 beaver that year. Roger loved to run hounds and was featured in Outdoor Life Magazine in 1983. There was always lots of hound puppies around that he raised, trained, and sold to people far and wide. Fish and Game would call him on occasion to help control predator problem areas. Roger did lots of custom combining and haying with the help of his family. He loved watching his children play sports and teaching them how to be good providers. Roger was one of the best shots in the county. He could outshoot everyone even with his rusty old guns.
Roger was one of the kindest men in the world. Never said a bad word about anyone. He would always drop what he was doing to help a friend or neighbor in need. Many family members came to Roger and Edith when they were down and out. He would help them get on their feet. Roger loved playing card. He always enjoyed his poker nights with his buddies and loved playing pinochle with his family.
He is survived by: Daughter Valerie (Bert) Mullen, Daughter Donna Anderson, Son Dallen (Rhonda) Brauer, Son Edwin (Billie) Brauer, Sister Mary Quinlan, 11 grandkids, 9 Great Grandkids, and lots of nieces and nephews, many of whom he helped raise. (Tom White, John Brauer)
He is preceded in death by family member: Wife of over 50 years Edith, Daughter Doreen (Jeff), Brother John, Kurt Wentzel, and both parents.
Roger’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Bobbie Chandler, Velma Rice, and Hearts and Home Assisted Living.

So sorry to hear about Roger, he was a great friend, we would work our cattle together, and help each other out. Roger was one of the kindest, and giving people I’ve ever met. Such good memories with Roger, Edith, and Mary at the sale barn in Miles City. Really going to miss you my friend, RIP.
