Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Paulson, age 90, of Miles City passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at her home in Miles City surrounded by her family.
Mary Lou was born on February 24, 1931 in Miles City, Montana, the daughter of William and Margaret (Tessendorf) Harbaugh. She attended school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School in 1949. After graduation she began working at F. W. Woolworth. Mary Lou met and married John C. Paulson in June of 1954. Together they moved to Sheffield, MT for the first year of marriage. Then in 1955, they moved north of Forsyth, MT where John worked on a farm and later that year, they moved to the Simpson ranch north of Volborg, MT. During that time John and Mary Lou welcomed their daughter Linda to the family. In the fall of 1956, they moved back to Miles City where Mary Lou resided ever since. In 1957, a son, Mark was born to John and Mary Lou. In 1963, Mary Lou went to work at First Bank in Miles City as a bookkeeper, proof operator, general lodger and teller for the next 25 years. She retired from the bank in 1988.
Over the years, Mary Lou was active in her church at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Miles City. She enjoyed working with the Christian Women’s Club, Friendship Bible Coffees, and hosting bible teachings in her home. Mary Lou volunteered her time at RSVP over the years and also enjoyed working on crafts and spending time with her family.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Linda Fitz of Miles City and her son Mark (Asta) Paulson of Miles City, five grandchildren: Kember, Brynn, Brock, Brenden & Brian, her great grandchildren: Vincent, Coen & others; a brother, Joe Harbaugh of Anthon, IA, along with several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret, a daughter at birth and a sister-in-law, Diane Harbaugh.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Stevenson and Son’s Funeral Home in Miles City with family receiving friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City, MT.
