Agnes Haugen, age 85, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the Roundup Extended Care Unit, Roundup,Montana.
Agnes was born January 12, 1922, at Aunt Bessie Abilene's residence in Sidney, Montana. She was the second child of John and Beulah (McBride)Obergfell. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1940 and then attended beauty school in Everett, Washington, where she met George Yoakam.
Agnes and George were married October 25, 1941, in Sandpoint, Idaho, and returned to make their home in Everett. In 1941 when George entered the U.S. Army, Agnes returned to Sidney to be near family. She worked at the Occidental Elevator and also the Princess Theatre, supervising her two younger sisters Doris and Peggy.Following World War II, they moved to Lebanon, Oregon wherechildren Georgia K. and Mark Williamwere born. In 1960 they moved to Sidney, Montana where Agnes worked in the assessor's office at the county courthouse. In 1963 they moved to Terry. Following George's death in 1968, Agnes returned to Sidney to work at the courthouse and Action Auto. In 1975 Agnes married Orville Haugen, and they resided on the family farmnear Alexander, North Dakota. After Orville's death in 1997, she resided in Sidney.
Survivors are children Georgia K. (Ed) Bray of Musselshell, MT and Mark (Joy) Yoakam of Hamilton, MT. Stepchildren include Astrid Coats of Vancouver, WA, Susan (Russ)SchumacherofDrayton, ND, Ken Haugen of Alexander, ND and Danny Haugen of Pembina, ND.Grandchildren: Elizabeth (John) Teini, Leslie Dahl,Alyce (Philip) Leonardi, Paul (Jennie) Yoakam,Brian (Tracy) Coats, Douglas Coats, David Coats, Deanne (Jeff) Dostal, Melissa (Glenn) Grommesh, Michele (Adam)Lovehaug, Angie (Mike) Karnes, Cory (Monica)Thompson, Maggie(Dohn) Ratliff,Sam (Deann) Willoughby, Jeff (Amanda) Haugen, Tate (Michelle) Haugen and Dallas Haugen.Great-grandchildren: Myles Yoakam, Madeline Coats, Nathan Coats, KaylaDostal, Brett Dostall, Gabrielle Grommesh, Sydney Grommesh, Kylie Grommesh, McKennaLovehaug,and Alexis Lovehaug, Emily Karnes, Russell Karnes, Erica Thompson, Victoria Thompson,Manni Ratliff, Charity Ratliff, Dayton Willoughby, Samantha Willoughby, Danielle Haugen, Austin Haugen, Zach Haugen, Courtney Haugen.Agnes is also survived by herbrother Jerry (Nancy)Oberfgell of Sidney, MT, sisters Doris (George) Swenson of Sidney, MT, Peggy (Roy) Zadow of Sidney, MT and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by husband George Yoakam, husband Orville Haugen, infant daughter Joni K., her brother GusObergfell, sister-in-law ShirleyObergfell,Louise Haugen and Keith Coats.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at Peoples Congregational Church in Sidney. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Peoples Congregational Church in Sidney.
