Agnes Johanna Weinschrott Munsell, dearly beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at the Holy Rosary Health Care in Miles City, Montana at age 86 on Sunday July 2nd, 2006.
Agnes was born in Plevna, MT on August 31, 1919 to John Weinschrott and Frances Herold. She attended schools in Plevna, helped run the family hardware store, and played the piano and church organ. At the University of Montana in Missoula, she was a member of the Mortar Board Society, Tri-Delta sorority and Spurs Sophomore honorary.
Agnes married Wes Munsell over 66 years ago on October 15, 1939 in Plevna. They moved to theMunsell Ranch near Baker, MT where their three oldest children were born. In 1946, the couple moved to Miles City, where they made their home for the past 60 years, and where their remaining seven children were born.
In addition to nurturing her family, Mrs. Munsell was energetically involved in Sacred Heart Parish and volunteer work. Agnes was a member of the Miles City Club, Sage Riders, Range Riders' Reps, andCowBelles. She valued her friends in a sewing circle, bridge clubs, birthday and breakfast groups.
Agnes was an elegant lady who treated others with great kindness. She loved to cook and entertain; was well known for her prolific perennial flower gardens; thoroughly took pleasure in playing games of all types; enjoyed handicrafts; she was most proud of her needlepoint.
Agnes is survived by her husband Wes and by all of their ten children (and spouses) including Russell Munsell (Suki) of San Anselmo, CA; Suzanne Munsell Keller (Larry) of Edmond, OK; Judith Munsell Burgher (Gary) of Lake Oswego, OR; John Munsell (Kathryn) of Miles City; MaryMunsell of Billings, MT; SallyMunsell ofKlamath Falls, OR; Janice Munsell (Randy Spear) of Billings; Joseph Munsell (Cori) of Rolla, MO; Deborah Munsell of Billings; and Richard Munsell (Becky) of Redmond, WA. 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, her sister Mary Muth, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, 1 brother-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law also survive Agnes.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; John, Anna, Frances, Joe, Helen, and Charles.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City, followed by a Rosary Vigil at 6:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot of the Calvary Cemetery.
