Albert Al Francis Donnelly, age 80, passed away peacefully at Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City, Montana on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at the age of 80, with his family at his side.

Al was born on September 20, 1928, in Miles City, Montana to Daniel Donnelly and Pearl Asselin Donnelly. He attended school in Miles City, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1948. Al married Esther Louise Niles on June 5, 1954 in Sacred Heart Church in Miles City.

Al was a member of Sacred Heart Church, as well as a charter member of the Sacred Heart Roundtable. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Al worked for Montana Dakota Utilities from 1951 until his retirement in 1990, when he retired as Gas Service Foreman. He was most fond of working and spending time at the family ranch on the Powder River, where he often engaged in another of his favorite activities, hunting. He was also an avid sports fan, with his favorites being the Sacred Heart High School Shamrocks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Boston Celtics, and St. Louis Cardinals, and even honeymooned with Louise in St. Louis to take in a Cardinals home stand in 1954.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Donnelly, of Miles City; sons, Kevin (Lori) Donnelly, of Miles City, Brian (Laura) Donnelly, of Miles City, Conan (Jeannette) Donnelly, of Miles City, Daren (Annette) Donnelly, of Missoula, and Sean (Kelby) Donnelly, of Great Falls; daughter, Dianne Donnelly, of Miles City; sister, Ellen (John) Merry, of Haw River, N.C.; brother, Dan (Dolores) Donnelly, of Billings; and sister, Pat (Marty) Cotton Betzing of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel, Larry, Riley, Keyan, and Dillon Donnelly, and James McKenzie (children of Kevin); Andrew, Brian, and Brandon Donnelly (Brian); Matthew and Rachel Donnelly (Conan); Katelyn Donnelly (Daren); and Jenna and Erin Donnelly (Sean); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Pearl Donnelly, sister, Delphine Donnelly, son, Daniel Donnelly, and daughter, Karen Jean Donnelly.

Vigil Service will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City, Montana. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2008, at Sacred Heart Church in Miles City with Rite of Committal to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Miles City.
