Albert Harmel, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend went to be with his LordFriday, December 9, 2005.
Albert was born on March 9, 1918 to Albert O. and Marie (Graff) Harmel. Albert is a Terry native born and raised on the home place northeast of Terry where the Teskes now live. Following graduation from Terry High School in 1937, Albert worked on the Fallon-Glendive portion of the Buffalo Rapids project and on the Fort Peck Dam when it was nearing completion. Physically disqualified for World War II duty by Selective Service, Albert tried unsuccessfully to enlist in the Navy. During the early 40s, he worked for a while in Rochester, Minnesota, returned to a job at Terry Drug Store and then spent some time working in California. Albert started working in the United States Post Office on May 1, 1945 and retired on April 23, 1980, serving the Terry Customers with great pride and handy stories.
Albert married Dorothy Rogerson in Terry in September of 1944 until her death in March of 1996. Albert met and fell in love with Winnie (Foot) Bremer. They were united in marriage in February of 1998 in Baker, Montana. They then returned to Terry where they made there home until the time of his death. Albert had many hobbies. He enjoyed his garden, telling a good story, heading off to a square dance or any dance.
Albert is survived by his wife, Winnie of Terry, MT; a son, Craig (Phoebe Reed) Harmel of Astoria, OR; three daughters: Darlene (Gary) Vihinen of Bellevue, WA; Jackie Bremer of Miles City, MT; Patricia Bremer of Fort Worth, TX; six granddaughters: Breanna (Tim)Meritt, Chelsa ReedHarmel, Veronica Keech,Elisheva, Kelyn and Molly King; one grandson, Richard Keech; a great grandson Conner Meritt and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his parents, and a sister Annette.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Vigil services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Terry.
