Albert Jay Kirn, Sr., age 67, of Poplar died October 9, 2003 south of Chinook as a result of an airplane accident.
He was born December 22, 1936 in Poplar, MT to Gilbert and Nellie (Lucht) Kirn. He was raised in Poplar, graduated from Poplar High School and married Betty L. Lizotte on the same day, May 24, 1956 in Poplar. In the 70s and 80s, he worked as a driller and tool pusher in the oil fields and in 1985 started as an oil field technician for the Ft. Peck Tribes and worked there for many years.
Albert loved farming, sporting events, especially those of his children and grandchildren and he loved working on cars. He was an active member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Brockton, MT.
Albert is survived by his mother, Nellie Kirn of Sidney, four sons: Albert (Connie) Kirn, Jr., Curry (Lori) Kirn, both of Poplar, Christopher Kirn of Dallas, TX, and Chad (Marcella) Kirn of Poplar; three daughters, Marie (Bill) Decker of Billings, Desiree (Bernard) Lambert, Jr. of Brockton, and adopted daughter, Dawn Summers of Billings; sister Karen Raffato of Sidney. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his father, 1 brother, Robert Kirn, and 1 son, Dana Kirn and 1 infant great grandchild.
