On the evening of April 1, 2014, while family stood by her side, Maheo took our loving sister, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, auntie and cousin, Alberta Mae Spang, by the hand and lead her to heaven. Alberta was born Sept. 24, 1952 to Alfonso “Burt” Spang and Emeline Fisher. Alberta was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. Her Cheyenne name is Komen’ahe’e (Pure Woman), named after her aunt, the late Eva Seminole. Alberta was a member of the Catholic Church. Alberta grew up on the Spang Ranch, south of Lame Deer. She attended Lame Deer Elementary School, Colstrip High School, and graduated from Busby High School.
Alberta married Charles Scott of Brockton, Alberta Canada. From this union they were blessed with two sons, Charles and Cleve. They later divorced. Alberta worked various jobs while living in Canada. She was the Financial Manager in Peigan Industries in Brockton, Alberta Canada.
She was Library Aide and Certified Nurse’s Assistant in Yakima, Washington. She worked as Laborer at the Ashland Sawmill, and St. Labre Indian School for 13 years. She retired due to her illness. Alberta loved picking and preparing chokecherries and plums; drying meat, turnips, fresh fruits, and vegetables. She loved to bake, listen to country music and bead with red, white, and black colors. She also loved working in her flower garden, tending to her flowers and herbs. She loved decorating her home, especially at Christmas. Alberta also loved chatting with her friends on her phone and computer.
Alberta is survived by two sons, Charles (Nema) Scott, and Cleve Spang, four grandchildren Christopher Alfonso Spang, C.J. Scott, A.J. Scott, and Hennie Scott, one great grandchild Kyson Spang.
