Algene Littlesun Sr. Mo’ȯxhaaketa (Little Elk) was born on December 30, 1965 to Lena Medicine Top and Alfred Littlesun. Algene passed this life at the age of 53 on September 13, 2019 at his home in Shelton WA.
Algene grew up in Lame Deer, being cared for by his brother Austin Littlesun and then sister in law Denise Swank. He attended school in lame Deer and Blanding Utah. Algene’s foster parents were Carole and Jerry Osborne of Blanding Utah.
Algene worked as a flagger and security guard for the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. He was an avid horseman and broke horses for local ranchers and his brother, Austin.
He enjoyed pow-wow’s, singing at the drum with the Swift Hawk Singers and Conrad Fisher, and being a ride along with the Northern Cheyenne Police Department.
Algene, his brother’s Austin and Dewey, and their nephews Eddie and Randy Whitedirt started A drum group called “Northern Plains” traveled the pow-wow trail for one summer.
In 1998, Algene married Carmen Wolfname and to this union was born Chris, Clayton, and Al Jr. Algene and Carmen remained friends and parents to their sons until the time of his passing.
Algene was greeted by his parents Alfred and Lena, his brother Dewey, Joseph Medicinetop, half-sister Philomena and sisters, Josephine and Virginia.
He is survived by his partner of many years Anna Humphreys of Shelton Washington, Brothers Austin (Jan) Littlesun of Shelton, Washington, Billy Fightingbear, Edward Medicinetop, Salvadore Morrison, Wesley (Bonnie) Spotted Elk of Lame Deer, MT. Navitt (Maxine) Spotted Elk of Blanding Utah, Perry Fightingbear of Ashland, Adam and Emmitt Medicine Top of Birney, Eric and Bill Osborne of Blanding, Utah. Surviving sisters are Essie (Paul) Beartrack, Helen (Lloyd) Littlerobe, Mary Grace Medicinetop, Evelyn Warcon of Austrailia, Bonnie Littlesun of Billings MT, Elizabeth (Floyd) Hiwalker of Lame Deer, Stella Medicine Top, Nancy Fightingbear of Birney. Sons, Chris (D’Loni) Littlesun, Clayton and Al jr. Trey (Ashley) Littlesun, Andrew (Alexis) Curley and daughter Leanna. 3 grandchildren, Shane, Taryn and Thayla and one on the way. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Algene’s family include: Littlesun, Medicine Top, Spotted Elk, American Horse, Fighting Bear, Whitedirt and Little Old Man. We apologize if we missed anyone as the family is large.

This is a belated condolence to Austin Littlesun and family from the bottom of my heart. I am so very sorry to read of Algene’s passing. You, Dewey, and Algene have never been forgotten by me.
