Alice Burneice Dawes, age 100, ofJordan, MT passed away at the Garfield County Health Center on March 6, 2005.

Alice was born on November 3, 1904 on the family homestead near Galena, in Hayes County, Nebraska to Edward and Mary (Fowler) Snyder. She helped her family farm driving a four horse team in Wauneta, Nebraska. She attended school through the 10th grade in Country Schools. On January 29, 1927, Alice and James H. Dawes were married in Holyoke, Colorado. They moved to Douglas, Wyoming in the early 30s where they farmed, ranched and raised their six children.

Alice enjoyed having her family around, and being their biggest fan, was always encouraging them to do better. She took one day at a time and did what she had to do. Alice was very thoughtful and always willing to help. She kept everyone in line, even on her 100th birthday we still knew who was in charge! Alice loved roses, and did beautiful handy work. She loved to get mail, travel, read and work puzzles.

Alice is survived by her son Dewane (Donna) Dawes of Riverton, WY, daughters; Alta Jean Menard of Nampa, ID, Mary Alice (John D.)Murnion of Jordan, MT, her sister MargieShibly of Groveland, CA, twenty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James in 1957, her parents, her son Bobby Jo Dawes in 1982, two daughters Sara Jone's in 1998 and Virginia Edwards in 2005, one brother Marvin Bud Snyder, two sisters; Hazel Snyder and Ethel Scriven and four grandchildren; Brian Edwards, Susan Dawes, Tom Menard and Corky EdwardsMurnion and two sons-in-laws; R.W.
