Interment: Custer County Cemetery.Alice E. Dodd, age 91, of Miles City passed away June 27, 2010 at Holy Rosary Extended Care.
Alice was born on a ranch near Seely, Wyoming on December 22, 1918 to Lewis and Ruth (Becker) Johnson. She joined a brother John and three sisters, Allegra, Mable and Fern. Alice attended rural grade school at the Johnson School and graduated from Hulett High School. She went on to get her teaching certificate from Spearfish, SD Teachers College. Alice remained in the Wyoming area, teaching in rural schools for ten years.Alice and Marvin Dodd were married on October 12, 1940. They lived on a small ranch in Wyoming before moving to Alzada, MT. While in Alzada they held half interest in a bar, caf and cabins. At the beginning of World War II Marvin and Alice worked in Bremerton, WA for a short period of time. In the early 1950s they moved to Miles City and continued in the bar business. Alice loved to work with the Cub Scouts, baseball mothers and did sewing for the hospitals and R.S.V.P. Most of all Alice loved being able to spend time with her family and friends.
Alice is survived by her sons Leland (Merna) Dodd of Miles City and Robert (Arlys) of Bulverde, TX; one granddaughter Lorna (Steven) Gowen, three grandsons, Christopher (Jackie) Dodd, Ryan (Tammy) Dodd, Brett (Keely) Dodd and eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her parents and her brother and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City with family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held at Custer County Cemetery in Miles City. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
