Alice M. McLachlan, age 86, of Wolf Point passed away on April 22 at Northeast Montana Health Services in Wolf Point.
She was born May 9, 1917 in Powers Lake, ND to Michael and Emma Van Berkom. Alice grew up in Powers Lake, ND until the age of 13 when she left and worked in Stanley, ND as a waitress. She later moved to Have, MT and worked as a waitress there. From there she moved to Wallace, ID where she owned and operated a bar and restaurant. She moved to Minot, ND, then to Kansas City, MO before moving to Wolf Point, where she has lived since. Alice and Daniel McLachlan were married June 30, 1969 in Williston, ND. She enjoyed canning, cooking, and gardening. She was a member of the Wolf Point Elks, Immaculate Conception Church, and the Altar Society.
Alice is survived by her husband, Daniel of Wolf Point; daughter Lori Hall and her husband Rob and granddaughter, Chantel of Choteau, MT; two brothers, Bob Van Berkom of Williston and Roy Van Berkom of Minot; two sisters, Pearl (Will) Simlick and Ione (Cort) Johnson, both of Phoenix, AZ. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2004 from 2 to 6 p.m. with a vigil service at 5 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 26, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wolf Point. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
