Alice M. Shotgunn, Vekeseha’e “Bird Woman”, Ciinih’ei “Kills Inside”, age 66, made her journey to the next camp on October 29, 2021.
Alice was born on January 2, 1955. She was born in Lander, Wyoming and raised in Birney with her siblings.
Her late parents were Lawrence Shotgunn and Elva Medicine Bull. She was baptized on April 1, 1965, in Ashland, Montana. In 1971, she and Gerald Walksnice Sr. bore their late son, Gerald Walksnice, Jr., her only child. In 1994 she was married to her late husband, Johnny Vasquez, who she lived in San Francisco throughout their marriage.
Alice lived in Washington a portion of her life and after successfully overcoming one of her biggest battles. She decided to devote her life to being a foster parent and taking care of her only departed sons and youngest children and many more after. She cherished all her time with loved ones and reminisced often.
Alice lived a quiet and peaceful life. She had the kindest, loving, caring, and bashful soul that didn’t have limitations when it came to helping others.
She was our matriarch that embraced family values and the glue that kept us together regardless of distance. Alice is survived by her grandchildren: Jasper, Lea, September, Lyndon, Kiana, Marla, and Jerold; all her great grandchildren; siblings, Roberta Lonebear, Robert (Josette) Shotgunn, Late, Larry, Mark Laurencita Shotgunn. Families, Headswift, Black Kettle, Frogg, Shotgunn’s, Swallows, White Antelopes, Medicinebull and Browns; nieces and nephews whom she raised as well Kamon and Kayvoni Shotgunn, Elvalyn, and Cedar Lonebear, Redleaf, and Cianna Braidedhair; most beloved pet, Mousie; her family from Ethete, WY: Grandma Winnie and her parents, Alice Rivers and Jack Shavehead, Jack Shaveheads parents, Nellie Limpy (Northern Cheyenne), his father, Simon Shavehead (Arapaho) Grandma Winnie had 14 children and two are living, Mary Yazzie (Shotgunn), and Marjorie Pizzaro (Shotgunn). Some of these siblings that are deceased: Merlin, Lawrence, Francis, Dephina, Virginia, Jean, Clarence, and Mouse.
