Alice Rose (Lillie)Pickering, age 89, of Miles City passed away on Monday, July 18, 2005 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.

Alice was born in Belfield, North Dakota on December 8, 1915, the daughter of John Arthur and May (Johnston) Lillie. She attended schools in Dickinson, North Dakota until the family moved to Sidney where she finished her schooling. She helped on the farm and worked as a live in nanny for a family in Sidney. Alice married Freeman Pickering on July 22, 1934 on the farm in Crane, Montana. They lived on the farm until moving to Fairview. They later returned to Crane where they operated Blue Star Honey Company until retiring and moving to Miles City where Alice had remained since.

Alice had a great love for children. She had a big heart that was very loving and giving and was always willing to help others. She touched many people through her loving acts of kindness.

Alice is survived by her four children: Myron Pickering of Shepherd, MT; Tim Pickering of Kingman, AZ; DarlenePiekarski and her husband Jim of International Falls, MN; and Kathy Stegman of Miles City, MT; two brothers: Harvey Lillie and his wife Lois of Sidney, MT; and Harold Lillie of Tuscan, AZ; three sisters: Gladys Albert of Lincoln, California; Edith Mead of Lincoln, California; Nellie Pickering of Sidney, MT; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Clarence Lillie, a sister Helen Thiel, and four infant siblings.
