Interment: Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery.
Alice Jane Schmidt, 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Holy
Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Alice was born May 11, 1921 in Cohagen, Montana to John and Christine (Nelson) Flippin. She was one of seven children and spent her younger years in the Cohagen area, graduating from Cohagen High School in 1938. Alice taught in the rural schools and worked in the hospital in Miles City. She married Ervin Schmidt on November 5, 1941 in Miles city and spent 66 years together. From this union two children were born, Lloyd and Ronald. Alice and Ervin lived along the Yellowstone River in the Shirley area raising sugar beets until 1975 when they moved to Miles City.
Alice enjoyed gardening, reading, bowling, camping and fishing. She was a member of the VFW, Moose, Miles Milers Good Sam Club and the Billings Boat Club.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Doris, Hazel and Stella and brothers John and Floyd.
Alice is survived by her husband Ervin and her sons Lloyd and wife Janeen of Billings, MT and Ronald and wife Janice of Holly Hill, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren Greg (Anne) Schmidt of Wisconsin, Lori (Travis) Croy of Idaho, Tammy (George)Grindstaff, Ricky (Trish) Schmidt and Kyle Schmidt all of Florida, and four great grandchildren Elizabeth, Emily, Eden and Evan, one sister Ruth Robinson of Billings, MT and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow at the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery.
