In Memory Of

Alvin O. Lien

Visitation: will be one hour prior to services with a family service at 9 a.m.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Bethel Free Lutheran Church in Culbertson

Interment: Zion Lutheran Cemetery at North Brockton

Alvin Oscar Lien went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 27, 2003.

Alvin was born in Brockton on June 8, 1910 to Ole and Mary Lien and was a lifetime resident of Roosevelt County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and graduated in 1929 as a member of the first Brockton High School graduating class. He served for a number of years as the Brockton Postmaster. He also managed Lien Mercantile Company for twenty-two years until he assumed management of the Lien Farms. He loved farming and ranching and retained a deep interest in the farm throughout his life.Alvin was an active member of the church and served on the council of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Brockton as well as Bethel Free Lutheran Church at Culbertson. He also served on the Brocton Town Council and was instrumental in establishing Brocktons first town water and sewer system. He married Josephine Qualley Dahlberg on November 17, 1954.After farming and ranching in the Brockton area, he and Josie retired to Culbertson where they joined the Bethel Free Lutheran Church. Alvin loved to read and to travel. His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them. He will always have a very special place in our hearts, and we will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josie; brothers, Woodrow, Oliver, and Orphey (Bud); and sisters, Alma and Myrtle.

His survivors include a sister, Lila (Jim) Elgie of Wolf Point; two daughters, Joyce (Don) Anderson of Missoula and Jane (Allen) Evenson of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Lane (Susan) Anderson, Jay (Jennifer) Anderson, and Jade (Judy) Evenson; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
