Amy Cecilia Foote (Méona’hāne) was born April 24, 1947 to Albert Foote Sr and Josephine yellow nose in Ashland Montana “ under the old bridge”.
Amy was the youngest out of 23 children and attended school at st labre from 1st grade to 12th grade. While in high school Amy spent a summer working as a Nanny in Chicago which began her living journey of taking care of children. After high school, she worked at Guild arts and crafts, or the “old factory”. Not too long after, Amy had her first child Evonne Marie, soon afterwards she welcomed Olympia June, Mervin Leroy, Quentin Robert, Eli Joesph and Cheyenne Jennifer. Motherhood was important to Amy as for many years she was a licensed foster parent and took care of many children who needed stability and love. Along with her love of children, Amy also loved traveling she was always willing to jump in and go and experience life. One of her life goals was to see all 50 states, to which she almost succeeded and made it to 42 states. Amy began her spiritual life and became one of our spiritual leaders guiding young woman on their spiritual paths. Art was always in her household as she was a very talented beadwork artist. Making beadwork for people and seeing her work worn was always her dream.
Amy is proceeded in death by her parents, Albert Foote Sr & Josephine Yellownose; Her siblings: Thelma Foote Two Two, Eddie Foote Sr, John Foote, Bertha Foote Harris, Eva Foote Rowland, Sylvia Foote, Joe Foote, Robert Foote Sr, Jeanette Foote, Gilbert Foote, Randolph Foote, Inez Foote Wilson, Mary Yellowfox Runsabove, William Yellowfox; Her children, Quentin Small Sr and Olympia June Small. Adopted Brothers Jim Dennis. Adopted sister Nancy Sandcrane. Adopted grandfather Joe Fox Sr; adopted daughter, Mary Eagle.
Survivors include sister Nellie Foote Speelman and family, children Evonne (Dan) Lierman and family, Mervin “Smurf” Small, Eli Small Sr and family, Cheyenne Foote and family. Grandsons Quentin Small Jr.,Bradley Small, Thunder Small. Adopted brothers James Rowland and Edward Anderson. Adopted sister Delores Morgan. Adopted sons Jerry Thex, Eli Eagle & Alvin Strangeowl. Adopted daughter Tiffanee Eagle.
Extended families include Foote’s from Ft. Peck, North Dakota and South Dakota. Rowland’s, Two Two, Harris, Wilsons, Buckles, Grey Bulls, Eaglebears, Whitehorse, Littlebird’s, Yellowhair, Yellowfox, Yellownose, Rising Sun, Fox’s, Burns, Standing Elks, Weide, Speelman’s, Elkshoulders, Lierman’s. We apologize if we left anyone out as Amy was blessed with a large loving family.
