Angelina Rose (Angie) Bogner, 95, was born on May 12, 1922 to Giovanni Baptista (John) Barbero and Mary Amalia (Mary Chiesa) Barbero on the Barbero family ranch near Boyes, Montana the first of four children.
On the morning of August 31, 2017, Angie passed away at Cottonwood Care Assisted Living in Miles City, Montana of natural causes.
Angie grew up on the Barbero ranch south of Boyes attended school at the Duncan Creek School which required a nice fresh walk every day to and from the school house. She had to help carry water uphill from the well for use in the house which had no indoor plumbing and no electricity.
Angie continued her education by going to High School in Broadus where she graduated as one of 37 seniors, the largest class to ever have graduated from the local high school at that time in 1940. Angie elected to continue her education after high school by enrolling in Townsend Beauty School in Billings, MT. While attended beauty school, she worked for a mortician as a live-in nanny and a maid to help pay for her education until she graduated in 1941.
Upon graduation Angie opened Angie’s Beauty Shop in a room of the Powder River Hotel. Her beauty work took her to a couple of different locations for the next few years. One location was on Wilson Street where her uncle Joe Chiesa was building a new Little Joe’s Barber Shop.
On October 17, 1941, Angie married Richard (Dick) Bogner at St. David’s Church in Broadus. Richard was in the process of establishing his own business as a mechanic and part owner of Bogner Brothers Garage, as Angie was doing the same in the beauty world.
This union with Dick soon resulted in the beginning of their family with the birth of a son Gordon in 1942. Angie managed to be a dual-purpose job of beautician and mom as Robert came along in 1945, then Ken in 1947 and finally a daughter Bonnie in 1950.
Even with this handful of children, Angie managed to keep her business going and still doing a super job of being a mother raising her children. It seemed about the time the oldest was off to college, it was also time to add a couple more children as daughter Marie was born in 1961, then son Keith in 1962.
Unfortunately, shortly after the completion of the family, Dick was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in March of 1968. Angie continued to operate her beauty shop while raising the final two children with much help from her parents John and Mary Barbero, who had moved off the ranch in retirement to live in Broadus.
Angie continued doing beauty work until 2007 when she retired at the age of 85, having done beauty work for 66 years.
Angie moved to Miles City in 2013 as a resident of the Eagles Manor and had just moved to the Cottonwood Care Assisted Living just weeks before her passing. She enjoyed having three of her children living close to her in her final years, but missed her many Broadus relatives and friends.
In spite of Angie’s hectic work schedule and child raising, she still had time to be a part of the community organizations like the Altar Society of St. David’s Catholic Church, Homemakers and VFW Auxiliary. She also found time to travel to beauty conventions and workshops. Angie also made time to take in various school related activities that her children were in and there were plenty of those.
She set examples for her children as hard working, kind, polite, thoughtful, caring and humble with a strong belief in God.
Angie was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick”, sister Frances Hill and daughter-in-law Marsha Bogner.
Angie is survived by her six children, Gordon (Lynne) of Las Vegas, NV; Robert “Bob” (Diane) of Miles City; Ken of Hudson, WI; Bonnie (Scott) Sprague of Golden, CO; Marie (Bert) LePoidevin and Keith (Connie) Bogner both of Miles City; nine grandchildren, Deann, Paige, Jana, Bryan, Kyle, Corey, Blaine, Kenneth and Christopher; thirteen great grandchildren, Ava, Olivia, Gavin, Holliana, Jasmine, Carlo, Easton, Treyton, Dakotah Rose, Vincent, Camden, Jewel and Etta.

Bogner Family…this is so heartbreaking to hear this news!! Angie was such a sweet lady and she welcomed me to her community in Broadus when I started teaching there in 1973. Her wonderful daughter, Marie was a student of mine and son Bob was a teacher there as well. Marie stopped at my house not long ago and she mentioned that she was moving her mom very soon. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers with a hug or two for everyone as well! Janet Buraas Klein

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the Bogner families. Angie was a living angel and never witnessed her without that smile. She always wanted us to tell her about Alaska where she never visited….even though she related to me she had always wanted to see Alaska. She was genuine, smart, beautiful and showed light wherever she was. She will always be remembered and surely received an awesome welcome when she was taken to Heaven to be with her loved ones.
Sincerely,
Diane Bogner’s sister Karen, Richard and all of our four children.

Judy Denson-Keller says
My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to the Bogner family at this difficult time. I will remember Angie as always having a smile on her face, having a good word for everyone, and having a heart of pure gold. She gave me my first shag haircut as a teenager. There were many fond memories, and beautiful hairdos at her beauty shop. There were a lot of laughs, also, especially the time when her fellow stylist, Martha sprayed a wasp with hairspray. The wasp didn’t die, but he couldn’t go anywhere because he was so stiff. The community of Broadus suffered another significant loss when this wonderful person passed away. Rest in peace, Angie. God Bless all of you.
