Ann Katherine Schmidt MacDonald, age 78, of Jordan, Montana, passed away at the family ranch in Jordan on April 28, 2005.
Ann was born on September 19, 1926, at the family ranch in Cohagen, Montana, the daughter of Josef and Marie (Cimbalnik) Schmidt where she was the youngest of nine children, seven brothers; Frank, Nickolas, Anton, John, Joseph, William, and Henry and one sister, Mary. Ann began her education at the Hafla Country School and then attended Cohagen School where she graduated Valedictorian in 1944. After graduation she began her teaching career of fourteen years in area country schools while going to summer school at Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana to further her education. On June 17, 1961 she was united in marriage with John J. MacDonald in Miles City, Montana. They then made their home on the family ranch in Jordan where they raised their family.
Ann enjoyed taking her kids to all of their activities whether it be in 4-H, the fair or swimming lessons, or practicing for some sporting activity, all the while preparing the meals at the home for just the family or for a crew. Ann loved to play cards and visit whether it be at home or at one of the homes of the pinochle gang. She was always excited and anticipated the marriage of her children because with each marriage she could anticipate grandchildren in which she spoiled immensely. And with that began the cycle all over again, of following the activities of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ann is survived by her daughter Gayle and husband Jay Twitchell of Jordan, MT, daughter Kelly and husband Ross Childers of Brusett, MT, son Brian and wife Tami MacDonald of Billings, MT, son Steven and wife Lavonne MacDonald of Jordan, MT, ten grandchildren, Travis and wife Charity Twitchell, Troy and wife Autumn Twitchell, Toni and husband Lee Murnion, Chan Childers and Noli and her husband Sheldon Bollinger, Tarra, Tristan, and Kane MacDonald, and Justin and Ashley MacDonald, and ten great grandchildren, Zachary, Cody, Kevin, Cole and Brenna Murnion, Destiny and Kaycee Twitchell, Brice and Kendra Twitchell and Peyton Bollinger, a sister, Mary Sloan of Miles City, MT, sister-in-law Edith MacDonald of Jordan, MT, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 2001 and seven brothers: Frank, Nickolas, Anton, John, Joseph, William and Henry.
