Ardith Dale Buck, (A.D. Buck), age 87, peacefully passed away on the afternoon of November 17, 2017 of natural causes. Ardith was being visited and comforted by family members at Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth, Montana at the time of his passing.
Ardith was born on July 5, 1930 at the hospital in Linton, North Dakota to Robert and Inez Buck. He was the fifth child.
Ardith was raised on a farm in Solen, North Dakota. Where he helped his dad and used a team of horses to work the fields. He went to auctioneer school in 1948 and 1949. He courted Deloris Metcalf in Solen, North Dakota when he was 20 and would often ride his horse twelve miles. One time at night he and the horse went into the creek and both got very wet.
Ardith and Deloris were married on December 8, 1953 and settled on a farm 10 miles North East of Solen, North Dakota. Ardith raised grey hounds and wolf hounds and enjoyed hunting with the dogs. He had one of the best groups of the hunting hounds in the county. He and his friends enjoyed many hours with the dogs. One night all the family went to a friend’s house to go coon hunting, kids and wives visited. All the men went hunting and got 13 coons. A great time was had by all.
Ardith had many milk cows and sold cream. They often had to round up his sheep in a blizzard, which was quite exciting! Also shearing was fun, as the kids polished their boots while stomping down the wool.
He also enjoyed breaking horses; his mother would not watch him doing this. He also enjoyed hunting and trapping. One time he had to hitch a horse to the car hood to get the kids from school in the snow. He had a trap line; he would trap bobcats, minx, beaver, fox and coyotes. He taught his boys and Roberta how to trap and also took Brenda with him on his trap line. Brenda would love going with her dad.
Ardith and Deloris had seven children, 5 girls and 2 boys. In 1970, the whole family moved to Montana. Settled in Hysham in 1971, and then moved to Forsyth in 1982 where Ardith was a county trapper for 19 years. He enjoyed being in the county and visiting with the old farmers and ranchers, while he was helping them get rid of their predators.
Ardith enjoyed his children and had many words of wisdom for them, such as; “Things will work out one way or another”, “If you can look up, you can get up” and he would comfort the kids if they had a bad day or got into trouble. In his own words, his greatest accomplishment was his family.
Ardith was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Inez Buck; brothers, Revere and Charles; and sister, Laurice Duppler.
He is survived by: wife, Deloris Buck; children: Roberta (Jim), Debbie (Bruce), Randy (Janice), Brenda (Tony), Karen (Brian), Wayne (Elaine) and Dawne; grandchildren: Jamie (Brent), Ada (Jordan), Kerry (Brad), Heather (Bryce), Robin, Colleen, Carissa (Renn), Billy (Andrea), Levi (Ann), Ashley (Matt), Erin (Chris), Amy (Shawn), Zach (Kristen), A.J, Camilia, Anthony, Andrew, and Charter; great-grandchildren: Izabelle, Isaiah, Samantha, Kellie, Mandy, Cassie, Ethan, Cora, Gavin, Adrian, Rylee, April, Jackson, Myles, Caycee, Emalyn, Julianna and his brother Walter Buck.
