On the evening of May 21, 2019 at 6:08 PM, Arlene passed away from natural causes surrounded by sisters, sons, and friends at Billings Clinic.
Arlene was born to Teddy Gray and Mary Little Mouth on September 5, 1964. She was the sixth to the oldest out of nine children. She went to school at St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana graduating in 1979.
After graduation, she went to work at St. Labre Heritage Center. Arlene was a hard worker, she liked working outside where she worked for Pete Thex. She also became employed by HLC, helping with secretarial work, resident attendant, working in the kitchen, but she liked working outside mostly helping with maintenance around the facility. All the elders enjoyed seeing her. She also drove bus on trips and transported the elders to appointments and shopping.
She enjoyed pow wows, rodeos, handgames, going to church, singing Cheyenne Hymnals, and traveling with her children. She was always our driver when we made our vacation trips to Wisconsin to see our sister, Vina Dircks and family. She enjoyed fishing and hanging with our brothers, Leland and Dorian up the river on their homestead, Cook-outs, dinners that brought the family together.
Arlene was preceded in death by parents, Teddy and Mary Gray; sisters, Ivey Mary Gray, Theodora Kern; husband, John Whitewoman; son, Preston Gray; adopted mother, Maretha.
She is survived by her children, Arlana (Craig Anderson), Curtis (Millie) Dion Gray, Austin Shiloh and Marcus White Woman; adopted son, Uribe Sam Eagle and adopted daughter, JoVana Gray, and daughters Evalyn Mylana and Lillan Reece; sisters, Nellie Hogan (Les Hogan Sr.), Mary Ann Gray; brother, Royce Gray of Everette, Washington, Leland and Dorian Gray of family home, Leonard Gray of Great Falls, Rosie Gray, LaDonna (Stanley Sr.) Eagle of Ashland, Vina Dircks (Charles) of Stanley Wisconsin, numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, relations, Solis, Vickie Anderson, Wolfnames, Rednecks, Medicine Tops, Little Mouths, Harris, Little Birds, Whitewolfs, McManus, and Clubfoots.
The family would like to give special thanks to the ICU staff of Billings Clinic, Heritage living center, Deacon Joe and Father Larry for prayers and people that came by to see her in the final days.
Today as we send our sister home to paradise, we would like to thank everyone for coming.

To the family of Arlene,
I want to give you my deepest sympathy for your lost. I would like to share a scripture in the bible that has proved to be of comfort for many, and it is in John 5:28,29. It mentions how soon all those in the memorial tomb will hear Gods voice and come out. Not only will they be resurrected, but Revelation 21:3 promises that death will be no more. Soon we will be able to see our loved ones again. Meanwhile as we await, Jehovah God exhorts us to turn to him in prayer, because he will comfort us even in difficult times (2 Corinthians 1:3). I hope these scriptures will be of comfort for you.
