Arlene Marie Johnston, age 70 of Missoula, Montana formerly of Poplar, Montana, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2004 at the Hillside Health care Center in Missoula of natural causes.

Arlene was born on May 19, 1933 in Poplar, Montana, the daughter of Lawrence and Anne (McGowan) Ault. She was raised and attended schools in Poplar. After her schooling she married Alan Swanson in 1952. In 1964, Arlene married Don Johnston. She was an active member of the Catholic Church, and she loved playing the piano and delighted many of the patients with her music. She also enjoyed reading and was a very good listener, spending quite a bit of time visiting with family and friends.

Arlene is survived by two sons, Carter (Lana) Swanson of Bristol, RI and Paul (Laverna) Johnston of Anchorage, AK, a daughter, Charlene (Joseph) Culbertson of Poplar, MT, a brother, Al Ault of Poplar, MT, a sister, Pat Cowan of Arizona, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her two husband's, her parents, two brothers and one sister.
