In Memory Of

Arnold “Arnie” Alex Garner Jr., 72, of Colstrip

August 4, 1944 – August 19, 2016

Arnold “Arnie” Alex Garner, Jr.

On August 19, 2016, Arnie passed away in Colstrip, MT at the age of 72 as the result of natural causes. Arnie Garner was born in St. Cloud, MN on August 4, 1944. He was the oldest of four children born to Arnold Alex Garner, Sr. and Mabel Garner “Benning”.

Arnie was known by all for his deep love of his family and friends, as well as his enjoyment of the great outdoors. A lifelong hunter and fisherman, Arnie was always in his element on the lake or in the woods. Those fortunate enough to accompany him on one of these adventures was blessed with the best companionship one could ask for.

Arnie was a man who would do anything for someone in in need. For twenty years, Arnie proudly served the Colstrip community as a volunteer fireman, acting as fire chief for several years. His many years of service in the Colstrip Public Schools and Colstrip Parks and Recreation District touched thousands of lives.

Most recently, Arnie treasured taking his dog, Max, on trips around town in his Razor vehicle. He also enjoyed time shared over a cup of coffee each morning with the Rusty Zipper Club.

As a brother, dad, and friend, Arnie will be immensely missed on this earth.

Arnie was preceded in death by his father Arnold, Sr.; mother Mabel; and his brother Roger of San Angelo, Texas. He is survived by his brother David, of Tampa, FL; sister Sharon Burton of Colstrip; son Jeffery of Englewood, CO; son Jared of Billings; and daughter Julie Balsam of Helena.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Life’s Journey Church in Colstrip. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to the Colstrip Volunteer Fire Department.
