Arthur Edwin Peaslee Sr., Age 84, passed away at 1:00 PM on February 10, 2018 at the Prairie Community Hospital in Terry, Montana.
Arthur was born in Miles City, Montana on April 19, 1933. He was the first of three children and only son born to Mildred (Jahn) Peaslee and Arthur E. Peaslee Sr.
Arthur was raised on a small ranch south of Miles City, only coming into town to attend school. After completing school Arthur made Miles City his permanent residence. On, February 8, 1958, Arthur married Wanda J. South and together they had five children, two daughters and three sons.
Arthur worked at various jobs early in his career such as operating heavy equipment, hauling fuel, mechanic work and some carpentry. Around 1970 Arthur purchased a semi-tractor and trailer. He became an owner operator and over the road freight hauler, hauling mostly lumber and steel from Seattle, Washington to Chicago, Illinois and return. He continued this until his retirement.
After retiring Arthur enjoyed going to his ranch south of Miles City and operating his dozer and other farm equipment. There was always time for summer picnics and teaching his sons his expertise about farming, hunting, equipment operation, fencing, welding, mechanic work and the weekly weed pulling session in the garden. His ranch was his hobby and he usually spent a majority of his summer there until health issues in his later years.
Arthur enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and always looked forward to their visit, so he could joke and kid with them or tell them one of his many stories or some life experience.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Wanda.
Arthur is survived by his five children; Deon Roberts, Paragould, Arkansas, Arthur (Sandy) Peaslee JR, Miles City, Jack (Val) Peaslee, Miles City, Denise (Adam) Olson, Miles City, Ray (Darla) Peaslee, Miles City, and two sisters, Ruth (Harold) Bohlman, Miles City, and Violet (Bill) Milender, of Meridian, Idaho. He has 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Prairie Community Hospital and their staff for their excellent care during his stay and to those friends who visited with him through the years.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held in the Custer County Cemetery.
