I never knew Art, but my Dad was always grateful to him for loaning him a sharp knife. Dad was hauling some hogs to Jimmy’s to be butchered, and one climbed up over the pickup stockrack and fell out. It broke its neck. Of course, that would be one of the few times that Dad left his jackknife at home. He was close to Turner’s corner on the gravel, so he drove into the yard and asked Art if he had a sharp knife Dad could use. Art provided the knife, and helped Dad get the hog to Jordan somehow… Dad always told that story with appreciation for Art’s help that difficult day. May the memories and God’s grace bring each of you comfort. That’s where the healing lies.
