Arthur Jacob Hochhalter, age 72, of Gillette, Wyoming, died Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Monday, August 18, 2003 at Antelope Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Small officiating. Internment with Military Honors at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette will follow service. Visitation will be Sunday, August 17, 2003 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette.
Art was born the son of Jacob and Caroline (Scheaffer) Hochhalter on November 25, 1930 in Reagan, North Dakota. He was raised and attended school in the country, north of Reagan, North Dakota. Living on the family farm, he helped out there. After his schooling, he married Violet Gehring on November 20, 1952 in Bismarck, North Dakota. Together they made their home on his familys farm, where they began their family. Soon after they were married, Art served in the Korean Conflict for a year. Returning to his family, he continued to farm until 1971 when he began his 15-year career in the oilfield. In 1985, he retired from the industry. Upon retirement, Art enjoyed his hobbies such as coin collecting, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Art is survived by his wife Violet Hochhalter of Gillette; four daughters: Brenda and Tom Gideon, Twila and Steve Stensland, Sandy and Steve Wilcox, LeAnn and Roger Brown; three sons: Ron and Bonnie Hochhalter, Doug Hochhalter, Dale Hochhalter, all Children are of Gillette; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters: Janice Buckmiller of Mandan, North Dakota, Joyce Hein of Bismarck, North Dakota; one brother, Wilmer Hochhalter of Bismarck, North Dakota.
Art is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roger; and one sister, Adeline.
