Arthur Joseph Yamada, age 97, of Miles City, Mt passed away peacefully at the Friendship Villa in Miles City on August 2, 2018.
Arthur was born on April 2, 1921 in Miles City, MT the son of Jack and Katherine (Buckham) Yamada. Arthur grew up in Miles City where he attended grade school and Custer County High School. Soon after Arthur graduated from high school he enlisted in the United States Army in 1944 where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1946. He returned to Miles City where he began a lifelong career working for the railroad until he retired.
Arthur loved being in Miles City he spent his entire life there only leaving to serve his country. He was an avid walker and almost every day he would park his car in the Albertson’s parking lot and take a walk.
He is survived by his niece, Rena Thomas of Westmister, CO; three great nieces, Maggie Hunt, Patricia Meagher & Katherine Baker-Hernandez; six great-great nieces and nephews, Angel, Juno, C.J., Matt, Bobbi and Lizzie and one great-great-great nephew, Dante.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Son’s Funeral Home in Miles City. Burial with full military honors will be at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City. Condolences can be made to the family by visiting stevensonandsons.com.
