Mahe’o called Arty John Blackwolf home on August 31, 2021 with his family by his side. Arty was born on September 24, 1969 in Crow Agency, MT to Rita Red Neck and Walter Blackwolf. He attended high school is Busby, Montana. He played high school basketball and Football. Arty went to Job Corp and received certification as a Heavy Equipment operator. He worked for different companies in the construction field driving trucks and heavy equipment. Arty understood the Cheyenne Language and Culture. His nickname was “Artbark”. He loved having his family, friends around him. He enjoyed painting, beading. Arty was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved being out in the hills with family and friends fishing, swimming, hunting, and picking berries. When Arty saw that his kids, nephews, nieces and grandchildren or anyone else showed interest in drawing, painting or any other activities he loved doing; he would take the time to join in with them and teach them his skills and knowledge. Arty’s paintings were originals, he didn’t believe in making copies of his work.
Arty participated in traditional and ceremonial activities, he was a pipe carrier and also a traditional dancer. He also enjoyed drumming and singing and started a drumming and singing group for children in the neighborhood. Arty was well known for his meat cutting skills, he had many customers in the area and in other states. His passion was his family, and friends. Arty was a simple humble man who loved to make people laugh. Arty was also a fire fighter, he was a squad boss and sawyer. Arty Married Charlotte Blackwolf on August 13, 2021.
Arty is proceeded in death by his mother, Rita Redneck and Father, Walter Blackwolf. His grandmothers, Theresa Littlebird and Sara Blackwolf. His grandfathers: James Blackwolf, John Redneck and Gilbert Walkslast Sr. His Uncles: John Redneck. Aunties: Wendilene Neiss, Wretha Blackwolf and Florence Blackwolf.
Arty is survived by his kids, Keisha Eagle, Audric, Tommy, Lineda, Aaliyah and Arthur. Step Children: Deanna and Isaiah, his brothers, Joe (Virgina), Daniel (Jaychelle), Jason, Hubie and Kristopher. His sisters: Zeniada (Frank), Brianna (Brian) and Theresa (Johnathn) , cousin sisters: Diana Lynn (Chuck), Sharon (Anthony), Kristina (Vernon), Thilla, Viola, Olene (Dallas), and Aubrey (Jesse). Cousin brothers: Dayton (Josie), Anthony Youngbear, Cleroy, Thaddeus (Nancy), Van Ryan, Freddy Blackwolf Jr., Meredith Tall Bull, Lawrence “Sioux Boy” and Oly Niess. Aunties: Limona Redneck, Johanna Redneck, Jamie Whiteman, Virginia and Lujenia Ridgebear, Mary and Wilma “Tiny” Two Moons. Uncles: Woodrow Blackwolf, Iron John Blackwolf and Hubert Blackwolf. Grandmas: Susie Cain. Arty’s has 93 immediate nieces and nephews.
Arty had many relatives and extended family, Tallwhiteman, RedNeck, Gray, Little Bird, Seminoles, Nightwalkers, Bearcomesout, Blackwolfs, Medicine Tops, Fox, Pines, Fighting Bear, Sandcrane, Standing Elk, Strang Owl, Elkshoulder, Running Wolf, Clubfoot, Bellymules, Shoulderblades, Walkslast, Crazy Mule, Red Hat, WolfBlack, Two Bulls, Whitewolf, Curley, Gray, Red Bird, and Nightwalkers. We sincerely apologize if we have forgotten any one as Arty has a big family.
