I was the Secretary at Poplar Middle School in the 1970’s. Barb taught Special Ed. She always had a smile and would help anyone in need. She spoke highly of her family, especially her nieces and nephew. My sincere sympathy to the Bickle family. God Bless you Barb.

I was so sorry to hear of Barbara’s death. We weren’t in touch very often until we both retired. When we could still drive we visited Montana nearly every year and always had nice visits with Barb. We shared genealogy and family news and experiences in earlier years. She will be missed but always remembered. We send our love.
Carrie Bickle says

The Bickle family: I hadn’t seen much of Barb over the years but we had a great and long conversation at the wedding reception in January this year. I loved her no-nonsense sincerity; there was no pretend in her. That was her way. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I just heard about Barb leaving us. it is a great shock. She was always so certain that, since her parents lived into their 90’s, she would, too. I taught with her in Poplar for many years. My husband and I are also farm folk and we shared a lot of common interests; hay hauling, horse lore, doctoring of all kinds of four-legged critters, wood hauling and all those country chores.
My thoughts and prayers go to her family. Christmas just won’t be the same without one of her Leaning Tree cards, complete with a newsy little note in her teeny handwriting. She made a lot of friends in Poplar who always speak well of her when her name comes up. She was a down to earth person, one that my dad would call “the salt of the earth.” She will be truly missed by me and my family and many of her former students and colleagues.

I Was saddened to hear of Barbs passing. She was a real down to earth person who always had time to visit and always had something to say that was relevant. I will miss her laugh her good natured stories. She was a cut to the chase kinda person, who told it like it was. I joined the Bickle family at ten years old when my mother married Davie Bickle. Barbra, Bill, Art and Ursella always treated me like family. We’d get together whenever I was in town and she would catch me up on the “family”. We talked often on the phone, as recently as a week ago, it’s hard to believe shes gone. I’ll miss you “cuz”.
Bill, my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. I grieve with you. Gods blessings.
Linda OH Purdy says
I am saddened to hear of Barb’s passing. She was a kind person who was always willing to go the distance and be of any help. She took the time to drive me to get into college even though she could have been doing something else. I am glad she was empathic and a loving person. I will miss her and her Christmas cards as she always had a positive outlook on life. Heaven has a special place for her and she is in the best hands that could ever exist. May she rest in peace.
Beth Hagadone says
I subbed for Barb when she was the teacher in the ISS room at Poplar Schools. She was always “for the kids” and very helpful to many at Poplar Schools. She worked hard. The students had a “health” respect for her.
Karen Morton says
I am so sorry to hear of Barb’s passing. We met Barb when she came to the “Bickle” reunion at our place in Bigfork, MT. She was a wonderful lady and had so many stories to tell. She will be missed.
Sue Archer says
Many thanks to everyone who has posted here, sent cards and called to extend sympathy. Our family truly appreciates it. Aunt Barbara was all that you say – a person with a huge heart, a great chuckle, and a “let live” attitude. She always had room for another animal (or two or three or four or…) and she showed a remarkable loyalty to using the same name over and over. I used to tease her that when she got to heaven and yelled “Sage! Come!” she’d be run over by half a dozen look-alike German Shepherds. I’m sure you can imagine how that would make her laugh! We will really miss her. Thank you all.
