Diane Schmidt left our world on October 21, 2023 at the Holy Rosary Residential Living Unit in Miles City, MT.
Diane was born Apri 15, 1931 in Jordan, MT to Leslie and Aileen Storey. She graduated from Garfield County High School in 1949.Diane married Ted Schmidt on January 30, 1952 in Spokane, WA and lived there until 1964. They moved back to Garfield County and made their home in Jordan and on the Schmidt homestead near Cohagen where they operated the Schmidt Farm Shop. They raised three children and enjoyed the country way of life. She would take long walks around the property and assisted with raising cows, horses and chickens.
Family and friends were her greatest joy. They often traveled to Wisconsin, Wyoming, Washington and Arizona to visit family and friends.
Survivors include sisters Sharon (John) Hopper and Carol (Bill) Nichols of Spokane, WA; sister Janice (Clifford) Hallstead of Twin Falls, ID; son Bryan (Judy) Schmidt of Belgrade and daughter Dawn Colton (Eric) of Billings; in-laws Donna Schmidt (Tom Kruschke); Rosemary (Greek) Storey, Ruby (Gus) Schmidt; Pat (Rosemarie) & Donna Murdy; and Marilyn (Glen) Enderson; and adopted family Kay & Jerry Collins. Grandchildren include Kami Rangeloff, Rob and Kirk (Angie) Hines, Cassie (Miquel) Gutierrez and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Joann, husband Ted Schmidt, daughter Margo, brother Greek Storey, brothers-in-law Bill Nichols, Gus Schmidt, Clifford Hallstead, Glen Enderson; and sisters-in-law Rosemarie Murdy and Irene Enderson.
Cremation has taken place at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held November 11, 2023, at the Cohagen Community Hall in Cohagen, MT at 1:00 PM. ILO flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Cohagen Hall or your favorite animal charity.
