Barbara Jean Hamburg, age 76, passed away on April 15, 2025 in Miles City, MT.
Barb was born on April 18, 1948 to Theodore and Pauline (Lockman) Hamburg in Sidney, Montana. Barb was raised in the Savage area along with her brother Bill and graduated from Savage High School in 1966. From there, she attended administrative training in Missoula, Montana. She then moved to Miles City, Montana where she worked at the Bureau of Land Management for many decades before retiring in 2010. After retiring she continued working for the Miles City Fire Rescue as an administrative assistant until 2014.
Her travels throughout her years took her many places including San Diego, British Columbia, Paris, and London. Her passion for animals and kind heart led to her taking in and loving numerous cats and donating to many animal shelters and organizations over the years.
Barb is survived and remembered by her sister-in-law Marcy (Gehnert) Hamburg (Savage, MT), nephew Casey Hamburg (Vail, AZ), niece Samantha Hamburg (Missoula, MT), step-nephew Michael Bender (Alisha) of Savage, great step-nephew Knox Bender (Savage, MT), as well as numerous cousins and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Pauline (Lockman) Hamburg, her step-mother, Christine Hamburg, and her brother William “Bill” Hamburg.
Memorial and burial services are to be held at 3 pm on Monday, June 16th at the Savage Cemetery with a reception to follow at the First Lutheran Church hall. Friends and family are welcome to attend, and we ask that any condolence donations be made to a humane society or animal nonprofit organization in memory of her generous, animal-loving nature.

Barb, it was wonderful to see and visit with you not too long ago at Walmart.
I had no way to know it would be our last visit. Your love of animals is where our story began and I hope each of your beloved pets are rejoicing in reuniting with their mom. Rest easy my friend.
