Barbara Ann Morrison, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Miles City, Montana on November 22, 2023.
Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 27, 1942 to Delevan Davis and Lillian Korhonen Davis. She was the baby of the family, joining brothers James and Tom. When her father was drafted into the Navy in early 1943 during WWII, Lillian took the family to live in Keweenaw Bay, MI where Grandpa and Grandma Korhonen lived since they immigrated from Finland in 1902. When WWII was over, the Davis family moved back to the Detroit area. Barbara graduated from Ferndale High School in Ferndale, MI in 1960.
John 11:25-27
Jesus said to her “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to Him, “Yes, Lord I believe that you are the Christ, the son of God, who is to come into the World.”
Barbara also believed this very statement made by Martha and made it the foundation of her life. She taught her children the importance of knowing Jesus and being born again. She was faithful in her service to the Lord and prayed for her family daily. She always appreciated the beauty of God’s handiwork and would point out a sunset or gush at her flowers when she was working in her flower bed and say “Isn’t God amazing? Look at how beautiful this is! He made these for us to appreciate.” Her legacy is her love for Jesus and her faithfulness was not in vain.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Delevan and Lillian Davis, and brothers James and Tom Davis. Barbara is survived by h er husband Mervin Morrison; her sons: Lewis “Chip” Wright and his wife Cindy of Stevenson Ranch, CA; Karl Swartz and his wife Aubrey of Miles City, MT; her daughter Rebecca Morrison Lynam of Miles City, MT; granddaughters Carrie Bloxom and fiancé Nathan Osborne of Gillette, WY, Rachel Lynam, Naomi Blackwell, June Swartz all of Miles City, and Cambria Happ of Denver, North Carolina; grandsons: Jacob Bloxom, Isaiah Lynam and Jeff Happ of Santa Clarita, CA; and Asher Blackwell of Miles City, MT; a niece Judy Davis and Great Niece Audrey of Alexandria, Virginia; lifelong friends Margaret Carlson and Misty Carlson Fox of Miles City, MT and many cousins, nieces and nephews and old friends from Northern Cheyenne country.
