On the evening of September 20, 2015, at the age of 79, Bobbie chose to go home to her father in Heaven. Bobbie was born Barbara Jean Pardew on July 14, 1936 to Jim and Ada Pardew in Bozeman, Montana. Bobbie grew up in Bozeman and graduated from Gallatin High School. She met and married Victor Small Jr and moved to Kirby, Mt. Barbara and Jr had two children, Vicki and Scott. The family later moved to Ashland where she lived the rest of her life in the home where she raised her children. Barbara was a dedicated mother and contributed much to the family ranch. Her greatest joy came from her children as well as raising horses and Rottweilers. Bobbie was also a dedicated employee of St. Labre Indian School for 40+ years. She spent the majority of her years at St. Labre as the supervisor of the mail room and in the classrooms. In the course of her employment at St. Labre, Bobbie developed many lifelong friendships with co-workers as well as students. Bobbie took great pride and joy in the monthly potlucks held at the mailroom for her staff. It was a time to gather and be more than simply co-workers, a time to be friends.
Bobbie was passionate in her care for animals of all kinds. She shopped as much for her pets as she did for herself. Bobbie would do everything in her power to care for an animal. Bobbie had an unlimited capacity to love. She put her whole heart into her family, friends and animals. Bobbie took great pride in her home. She spent hours upon hours on her yard, planting trees and flowers as well as mowing and trimming.
Scott and Vickie have shared countless stories from their childhood, always laughing, always knowing Bobbie was their number one fan. They agreed that everyone who knew Bobbie loved her pies and candy. Always homemade and always ‘fat free’.
Bobbie is survived by her children, Vicki Small-Robinson (Jimmy) and Scott T Small (Terry Lynn), grandchildren Kimberly, Jeremiah and Chauncey, several great-grandchildren, her sisters Pam and Beth, as well as her special friend Kathy Luther. She was preceded in death by her mother Ada and her sister Virgie.
Bobbie asked that no services be held and that her family and friends remember her as she was in life. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to B.A.R.K. 111 Moore Lane Billings, 59101
This is an organization that Bobbie supported where animals are cared for with no threat of being euthanized, only adopted.

Missing this great lady and friend is an understatement. Shared so many memories from many years working together, and she taught me one thing in particular; “don’t ask, if you don’t want to know what she thought about it”. Thoughts and prayers to all her family and friends. God Blessed us when she was a part of our lives.
Kathy Reece says
Dear Vicki & Scott: Please know that you both and your families are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. I have such fond memories of “Barbara Jean”. When you went to her house you were never a stranger or company, you were family and she treated you as such in her loving, humerous and caring ways. When she was the Home School Coordinator, she took that job so seriously, her only priority was making sure that those students were taken care of in her caring way whether it be providing transportation, buying clothes for them from her own pocket book and making sure they were in school. I loved it when she brought her “fat free goodies” to school during the holiday season, they were always so good and guilt free!!! The next few days, weeks and months will be tough but please know that you are loved by so many, believe me it helps knowing that. Don’t feel awkward or afraid to ask for help, it really helps to share the sorrow and the stories. I will continue to keep you in the prayers. Love you.
