Benjamin Lee Metzenberg, 80 years young, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2011 at his home in Miles City.

He was born June 10, 1930 in Kiowa, Kansas to George Metzenberg and Daisy Wheat Metzenberg. As an infant he moved with his parents to Ekalaka, Montana. In 1945, the family moved to Miles City, MT. He attended country school and high school in Ekalaka. In 1947 he worked at the Milwaukee Railroad and in 1948 joined the navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. After his discharge from the navy he worked for a while in construction.

On May 11, 1951, Ben married the love of his life, Margaret Peg Kenney. They were then blessed with four children: Mark Edmund, Linda Carol, Robert Thomas and Scott Lee. He attended Bear Wheel Alignment school in Rock Island, Ill and worked at Nance Motor in the shop and was also manager of the service station. Ben went to work for the Miles City Fire Department in 1954. During his tenure at the fire department he served in the capacity of Lieutenant, Captain, Fire Inspector, Assistant Fire Chief and Special State Deputy Fire Marshall. After 26 years he retired from the fire department and later worked as a private contractor.
Ben Enjoyed bowling and loved playing horseshoes with his Uncle Otis. Although he never played sports, he stepped up to the plate when the kids needed a Little League Baseball Coach. He found endless enjoyment in helping out in any way with any school events, especially sports. His coaching career started from a book at the library and the help from his good friend Milt Benge. He also drove bus for the athletic department at CCDHS and for the American Legion Baseball Team. He enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and the Food Bank.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jewel, his brother Bob, and his son, Mark.
