Interment: following the service in Greenwood Cemetery
The Lord has called one of his own home. Ben Unruh passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on June 30, 2006.
Ben was born on the family farm on June 19, 1914 the fourth of fourteen children to Andrew and Minnie Dirks Unruh. Ben was baptized on October 18, 1931 at the Bethlehem Mennonite Church of Bloomfield, MT. He later served his country with honor and pride during World War II with tours in Italy and North Africa. Upon returning home, Ben married Viola Richert on August 19, 1945. They settled into farming at Richey, MT until 1957 when the family moved to Wolf Point where he worked at various jobs until he was hired as the maintenance person at the Roosevelt County Court House and served there until his retirement in 1983 at the age of 69. Ben enjoyed gardening, tinkering around the house, and studying the bible. He was very active in first the Bethlehem Mennonite Church of Bloomfield, MT. and then the Community Bible Church of Wolf Point, MT. Through the years he served his Church in many levels of leadership including board member, song leader, and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed singing in the Choir and Quartets and loved to hear his children sing.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings, 1 grandchild and two great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Viola Unruh of Wolf Point, MT., one Son; Marco (Teresa) Unruh of Richey, MT., Daughters; Joyce Clemow of Billings, MT., Lorraine (Dale) Lunder of Billings, MT., Clarice (Tony) Charette of Wolf Point, MT, and Benita (Dennis) Widener of Kimball, NE. Survivors also include one brother; Pete Unruh of Glendive, MT., two sisters; Eva Stone of Wolf Point, MT and Billie Dewar of Ontario, Canada, 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2006 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Community Bible Church in Wolf Point.
