In Memory Of

Bernadine Rogers

Visitation: Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus.

Funeral Service: Friday, August 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Baptist Church in Broadus.

Interment: Valley View Cemetery.

Bernadine Louise (Oedekoven) Rogers, age 80, passed away on August 26, 2007, at her home in Biddle, surrounded by her husband and children.

Bernadine was born on March 13, 1927, in Gillette, WY. She was the eldest daughter of Vincent and Laura (Amende) Oedekoven. Bernadine grew up on the family farm in Recluse, WY. She attended grades one through eight at the Recluse school and went on to high school in Gillette graduating in 1946. In 1945, she traveled with Alice Greenough, clerking at the rodeos, and helping Alice with the cooking and childcare. After graduation, Bernadine spent two years teaching at the RecluseSchool and the Greenough School. Bernadine also kept books for Jim Fulkerson at the Gillette Airport. On June 22, 1949, Bernadine married Kenneth Rogers at St. Davids Catholic Church in Broadus, MT. They had been married for 58 years. Kenneth and Bernadine made their home on the ranch near Biddle,MT where they lived, worked, and raised their six children. Bernadine loved life on the ranch. She liked working with the cattle, growing flowers, and raising and taking care of her garden. She enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing trips with her family and neighbors.

Bernadine was very active in the community. She served as the Biddle School District Clerk from 1957 to 1992 (35 years). As Bernadine grew up, she was a member of 4-H, earning a trip to National 4-H Congress in Chicago. She was a 4-H leader when her children were members and continued to be committed to 4-H; spending many hours helping her grandchildren on their projects. Bernadine was an excellent seamstress making most of her childrens clothing including her daughters wedding dresses. She was a member of the Biddle Homemakers Club, acted in the Biddle plays, and played Santa Claus for the Biddle School Christmas program.

Bernadine is survived by her husband, Kenneth Rogers, six children; Charlanne (Jim) Lemke of Broadus, Avin Rogers of Biddle, Connie (Nathan) Rumph of Biddle, Tammy (Dave) Hartman of Miles City, Tassie (Wade) Irion of Billings, and Carlene (Bub) Gaskill of Volborg; 16 Grandchildren, Kristal Lemke, Sheriann Lemke, Justin Lemke, Mandy (Josh) Rumph Miller, Christopher Rumph, Alex Rumph, Nicole Rumph, Ross Hartman, Matthew Hartman, Jennifer Hartman, Brittany Irion, Brianna Irion, Bethany Irion, Drew Gaskill, Garrett Gaskill, Amanda Gaskill, one great-grandchild; Keaton Miller, a brother, Leon (Liz) Oedekoven of Recluse and a sister, Lorraine (Alva) Fortner of Biddle.

Bernadines greatest quality was the love she had and showed for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Laura Oedekoven, an infant brother, Dennis Oedekoven, and an infant great grandson, Robin Noble Miller.
