Graveside Service: Monday, April 2, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City

Bernice Boughton, age 93, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at her home in Ronan with her husband Gene and daughters Sara and Jessie at her side.

Bernice was born in Ridge, Minnesota on September 15, 1913, to Otis Gaslin and Elizabeth Farnum. At the age of 5 years, she moved with her family to a lifetime of ranching north of Jordan, Montana.

She was united in marriage to Bert A. Boughton in 1932. To that marriage four children were born: Bert D., Sarah, Jessie and Jan. Her husband Bert A. preceded her in death in 1969. In 1971, Bernice married Gene Boughton who has been at her side since. They sold the ranch at Jordan and moved to the Ronan area in 1989 where they reside at the present time.

Bernice is survived by her husband Gene of Ronan, a son Bert D. (Mary Ann) of Miles City and three daughters, Sarah Tobel (Richard) or Ronan, Jessie Merwin (Ron) of Ronan and Jan Bickle (John) of Baker.

One of the great loves of her life were her grandchildren, Tim (Linda), Dave (Karyl), Penney (Tim), Dee (Carla), Bryon (Kerie), Gene (Lea), Joe (Dana), Ian (Dar), Mindi, Mickie (Mike) and Liz; and her great grandchildren, Andy, Katie, Taylor, Katie, T.J., Emilee, Connor, Cole, Braden, Rhianna, Eric, Shawn, Ashley, Cierra, Makinzie, Lindsey, Myles, Levi, Micah, Jake, Karlee and Justin. Bernice, Grandma Toots to all of us, was a true and grand Montana ranch lady who will be long and lovingly remembered by those of us who have been so fortunate and honored to have her pass through our lives.

A viewing will he be held Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City. Arrangements are under the direction of Shrider-Thompson Funeral Services of Ronan and Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
