Bernice Turn Toes, age 78 of Frazer, passed away April 21, 2006 at Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point.
Bernice was born August 9, 1927 in Poplar to Allen and Adeline (Vasser) Smoker Sr. She grew up in the Frazer area and attended schools there. Bernice was a hard working housewife and raised nine children. She worked at the Glasgow Air Base and also for A&S Tribal Industries. She enjoyed spending time with her children and attending their sporting events. She especially enjoyed attended pow-wows and basketball games and visiting with her family and friends.
Bernice is survived by her sons, Junior Sherwin (Gina) Big Leggins of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Harold (Rosalie) Big Leggins of Harlem, Dwight Big Leggins of Wolf Point, David (Francis) Big Leggins of Frazer, Duane (Clarice) Big Leggins of Helena, Eugene (Roberta) Big Leggins of Frazer, Franklin (Roxanne) Turn Toes of Frazer, Rodney (Ronna) Turn Toes of Rocky Boy; and one daughter; Latoya (Chad Nelligan) Turn Toes of Frazer. Also surviving are special nieces Adeline Smoker White, Mandy Broadus, and Jeri Smoker; brother Kenneth (Teresa) Smoker Sr. of Poplar; sister; Vera (John) Iron Man of Poplar; 24 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, two children, brothers, Allyn, Shirley, Dwight, and sisters, Yvonne and Audrey.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 23, 2006 2 to 7 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services will be held Monday April 24, 2006, 10 a.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Frazer. A memorial feast will be held following at the Frazer Community Hall
